Question
crrc26i

I had to replace the Cylinder in my CRRC26i as the small end bearing failed and fragments scored the cylinder wall. I cant get the engine to run after replacing the cylinder. The compression feels very low. My electric starter will spin the engine up quite fast and I can hear it firing, it sounds almost like its idling but stops as soon as I take the starter off. Anyone know what might be wrong?

Did you replace the piston and ring too? If not you should have.

I did replace the piston although the old piston seemed ok.The Ring was fairly new although I have used it with the old cylinder. I noticed that the ring was a slightly looser fit in the groove of the new piston compared to the old piston. The groove in the new piston seems to be very slightly wider than the old one.I thought that this might be causing the problem so I tried running the engine with the old piston but still no joy

Im in Ireland, so shipping would be prohibitively expensive. Thanks anyway.

Could not having replaced the piston ring be causing my problem?

If you haven't already, put a new sparkplug in also.
Something foreign could be up in the sparkplug.
Nothing worse then ruining a new cylinder / piston / ring trying to save on a sparkplug.
