AJ Slick for 40 cc Twin

How about a 78 inch wingspan AJ Slick with a cowl width of about 9 inches to fit the 40cc twins that are becomming very popular. The EF 78" Extra 300 works great with the VVRC 40cc Twin and a 3DHS Slick in this size would be awsome
The current 30cc ARFs are a little too small and the 50cc ARFs a little too big.

vary unpopular size and kinda pointless 30 cc market is fine and the 60 cc market is fine not much point of playing in the middle of that market as for the price a plane in the middle is too close to the next size up ..

for a example said 71 slick is 439 current ... it was cheaper but that's for another story i guess. 379 when i got it....

so your idea of a 79 " slick would go for super close to 600 . or 569 ..... to close to the next size up and too close to other manufacturer's 50cc .. EF 91 " EXP planes are with in 100 bucks of that and it's just a better....

in other words terrible idea .. like the ford rancho chevy elcomanio subur brat .. idea for car and truck lovers .. just do one or the other....

EF can't keep their 78" Extra 300s in stock. A very popular size for the 40cc twins. An 80 inch 3DHS AJ Slick would be awsome at any price.

Any reason Just put it on a current 74" slick and be happy? If the cowl doesn't fit than modify it... It's only 2-2 1/2" shorter per wing panel than the 78" extra which uses a higher aspect ratio wing (difference in full scale versions) I've seen the electric slicks and gasser versions and shoe-horning a 40 in would be really cool..

I appreciate your opinion but I have to disagree. It was true last year but things are changing with a new breed of motors out there now. Same thing happened to the 50cc plane changing to make use of the 60cc and now again they are growing to 91" to make use of the 70cc twins. Extreme Flight not only has their extremely popular 78" as mentioned they are coming out with 3 more designs for the 35-40cc. AJ himself the Slick designer is releasing a larger Laser. I think a 78" Slick would be awesome.

I just hope they keep making planes for all the 30's, 50's and 100's out there. A good light 100cc plane is still sweet to fly, just not *as* big as the 120cc planes. It's like the old 26" mountain bike wheel giving way to 27", then 29" rims. EF had it right when they built the 110" Yak to work with a 100cc motor- big, and light around 27-28 lbs. The 120 just turbo charged it! The new 24lb planes are perfect for a good 100.

Anyway- it's all relative. There's motors from 10cc on up. Just because the last few big slots got filled in with 40cc and 70cc twins doesn't make a big difference to me.

In the case of the 50's I think they will get some rejuvenation with these larger 30cc planes in the 78"-85" range. Chris at Extreme Flight was telling me that for a shake down flight he put a DA50 in the prototype new 76"/85" MXS and loved it. Not sure what they will be called because good luck flying one of these new ones with a 30.

the 91" 60cc class airframes are nothing more than marketing something new to sell more product. You can run a 50cc in any of the new 60cc airframes and still have more power than you will ever need or use. Its just smoke and mirrors

Can't really agree with that, I waited to get my first 50-60CC plane for the DA70 to come out. I'm sure the Da60 pulls it just fine, but I wanted a twin. The DA70 is worth every penny! I don't think the EF 91" Yak would be a much fun with a DA50 on it.
