I am so relieved... I always regarded the 10X as the pinnacle of JR radios.
I was disappointed it was only a Heli or Airplane radio.. but they were nice. The case.. the gimbals... the touch screen.. the programming..I have flown JR for 20 years.. I was afraid that JR was going to release a 2.4 dmss version of the 10x and a color touch screen with great programming.. How bummed would I have been for ordering my 18 MZ last week

The question is, will there be any loyal JR fans left by the time this "supposed" flagship radio is introduced, or will everyone have migrated over to Futaba by then? It was 1999 when I packed up my Futaba 6XA and sold it, and I've owned nothing but JR since. Don't remember when I bought my 10X, probably around 2002; how old was the 10X model by then? It was JR's flagship radio at the time, but certainly wasn't a new model.
Purchased a 12X in 2010; not because I wanted whatever improvements it offered over the 10X (IMO = very little), only because: (1) my 10X was 8 years old and I was starting to worry about it going kaput in the middle of a flight one day; and (2) I couldn't find a new in box 10X that would do DSMX (so I could fly without worries at Joe Nall). This XG14 is not the radio I've been waiting for. Don't know how much longer I'll wait before I try to dye my red shirt with a tint of yellow. Pete

Hi AcScotty, didn’t realize my post was a “Rant” If I offended you in some way I’m sorry. It was just my comments coming from a long time JR user.
I won’t post any further here.

Seriously... the XG14 looks good to me... we'll have to wait to see the few important details... all the true capabilities and price. It blows me away that you guys pick apart things that all we have is a few specs and a picture of.
The interesting thing is that they also released the XG14E, which is a tray radio... and I believe the first tray style radio that JR has ever produced. (only one I can think of). For me, many of the TX's are very capable for most people... I really don't like the feel of the plastic radios and I like the fact that they have a CNC case on this one. After flying the 12x for the last 5 years or so, everything else just feels toyish... this is a postitive step in the right direction for me. Let's put things in perspective... in the last year or so, JR has released an entire new line of radios... the XG6, XG8, XG11 and now the XG14... seems to be more like the begining rather than the end...

I been flying JR for over 10yrs ( 9503) and they are the most user friendly radios on the market.
Now thinking of purchasing the 12X.

I agree with Matt,... My hat is off to JR for moving forward with DMSS, obviously THEY believe there are advantages to it. Everyone seems to be disapointed that there isnt a big touch screen ,however personally, I am not a fan of touchscreens because I have big fingers!....inadvertant touches are annoying, I like the select and click method myself.
Also ,I have found the new telemetry to be EXCELLANT, the new recievers are light, ...and dont forget their QUALITY servos!! I have tried the 2 other brands, and have come to realize that JR stands for QUALITY, and also, JR stands behind their products. Which was a quality I found lacking in their competitors. |
