Re: Welcome to FlyingGiants!
Guys I would like to have a small say on why I think like I do and why I think the FG site is going to be the Worlds No1 RC site n a very short time. A little on my thoughts and how they came about.
My Flying Giants involvement came about after a very torrid week in South Carolina at the 2005 Joe Nall with Mr. Sadler, Mr. Duncan, Mr. McQueen, Yak-man, Jay and who could not mention the TANK. That was my second visit after having attended the Don Lowe Masters the previous year. Those two journeys were the beginning of the end and the result of all that is what you see happening here today. I simply cannot say how enthusiastic I am for this new web site and the coming adventure for Max and Bob. Both are amongst some of the finest people who walk the face of this earth. Bob is always full of praise for others but I think he is the High Priest of modern RC. Probably unbeknown to himself he gently bends and leads modern RC in a new and exiting direction. It is indeed a privilege to call him a friend. Sure his style of humor may not suit everyone but then again there are other places for guys and gals who don’t like having fun. His greatest failing is he is a full on WARBIRD fanatic and loves to turn right and take divots out of Mr Pats putting green quality runway at triple tree. Other than that he is an OK kind of guy. Maxon Duncan on the other hand is a genius on a computer, a darn good RC pilot but he has a gift that is as rare as rocking horse teeth. His famous MOJO is a term that will go a very long way with those who log on and enjoy the new www.flyinggiants.com site. His ability to keep a web site light, loose, yet clean and informative is a miracle. Without bad mouthing other sites what he established with the old site is a way for people to communicate. But in a way that is not the norm on any other site currently running today and I doubt it will be repeated either. It is a unique talent and is truly confined to the Flying Giants site. One of the things that made the old site good were the guidelines he had if you have a problem; Simply stated it is please take it up with the local hobby shop or the distributor before you go off on both barrels here. And yes you have the right to ask why not get stuck into a forum and start blasting straight away. Well the deal is simple. This site is for little kids and big kids alike. Guys and Gals, Mums and Dads and the family. Many of them will never make it to the level some you top guns are at and that is not due to skill, money or anything else. It is due to circumstance. So how would you feel if Joe Hole starts bashing his XXX brand extra 260 Kit because it arrives with a tweaked wing or the mono cote is not the exact same color as the cowling? 200 posts from every Tom Dick and Harry later Young Billy, who just got one for Xmas, is devastated. After saving two years of money from mowing lawns his dream has just gone down the toilet. He thinks because the big dudes, his idols, got ripped or were not happy then he has a second rate kit. Get my drift. So the moral of the story is if you get stiffed and there is no hope in hell of solving it like a gentleman then by all means lets go, but be really sure you have done the right thing first. No shooting from the hip. Sure you should post your problem but give the guy who sold it too you the chance to come good first, and give him time, don’t expect a 24 hour response from everyone. Remember humans make mistakes and often the guy who sold you the thing never even got to look in the box. So he has to fix things with his supplier as well. In short let’s keep the mojo and play calm. But lets not get screwed either, nothing justifies getting ripped off, lets just get our retribution the right way. If we can stick to the Mojo guidelines this website is destined to be the biggest and best in the world. And that is not a flatulent remark. There are already plans to go international with a full Spanish version with everything ported across between both sites. Sort of a mirror site but bilingual. Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world and there are thousands of RC pilots just waiting to get in and be a part of what Biff and Max and the rest of you guys are building here. If we can find ways to bring in other languages then we will, time will tell when and how that will happen. Well people, if you’re new here then a very warm welcome. Look around and participate. You are welcome to have fun and be part of something special. If your old hat, you know how it works so again let’s get going. The fun has just begun. |

Re: Welcome to FlyingGiants!
Many thanks to our buddy Kiwi for his assistance, kind words, laying out of the boat race and stabs at humor! I really liked the part about me being a war bird hucker! I encourage all to enjoy Kiwi's great thread about his lifelong love affair with aviation. Awesome read and great photos. Especially the photo on the home page of our new aggressive flying site. A commie war bird with retracts! I am the closet low passer? No my friend,, it was probably subliminal on your part, but Kiwi my friend, you have ran your true colors up a real tall flag pole!! A bitchin' Mustang in race colors ....maybe. A Commie war bird,,,,, WITH RETRACTS????!
Kiwi check this 12 step program out,, PLEASE! www.i can't stop thinking about my war birds ,I need help .com Biff- the guy who has flown in several full scale war birds but only owns Huck-worthy birds |

Biff,
I just need to put the servos in your P-51 mustang and it will be ready to ship. I also made it so the ailerons and rudder will go left and right so you can turn both ways. |

Re: Welcome to FlyingGiants!
I think there is a little "closet" war-birder in all of us... ok, so maybe most of us... but ofcourse not me... I've met some really great friends through this hobby and I believe this site is a culmination of that. Things always change, thats about the only constant in life, but the vibe, the people, and the atmosphere are what make a place great. Saying that, I am proud to be a part of the FG staff.

Re: Welcome to FlyingGiants!
I'm beyond excited when I think what the future holds for the new website. The new forum features, the Biff Casts, the media gallery, etc. All these things are taking the RC website/forums to a whole new level. We've got the same cast of characters as before, the same vibe (Thats a definite plus) and hopefully very soon all the same users.
I know I had some of the very same questions many of you will in the begining, but after watching everything come together all my questions and concerns have been answered. Now I'm looking forward to this website rocketing off and becoming the absolute best place on the net to come and share ideas, learn about the latest craze and hear and see the latests events. So lets everyone jump right in and get this thing started with a bang, because no matter how well a website is put together, it's nothing without the user base. And we've always had what I consider to be the best user's on the internet. |

Thanks to all of the people that made this site and the FC possible, and to all the members that make it such a great place to visit. Lots of good information here an lots to be learned. One of the best places on the net for RC planes.
Thanks again, Chris Roberts |

Re: Welcome to FlyingGiants!
I am looking forward to the continued inspiration, answers, and just "plane" envy. I have my new Hanger 9 27% Extra airframe ready for a new DA-50 and servos. If all goes well by the end of Feb. it will be ready for a maiden

Re: Welcome to FlyingGiants!
Man!!!
I got up this morning and clicked on my Cirkus and BAM!!! I almost got the shakes . Starting over and learning new things were never my strong point, but I'm here and here to stay. A buddy of mine told me there was a major change happening, but I didn't ask any questions, 'cause we were getting ready to go to the field and I can only think of one thing at a time . Any how...Great intro and explanation of the guidelines, Kiwi. I think these are the same as the original intention of the FC, but somehow things get lost with time. Thanks to all of the guys involved for all of their hard work, it's going to be the best, I'm sure. Happy New Year to all, I have to go load up for my New Year's Day at the field, it's tradition...
