That is one of the advantages of having a field out in the middle of no where in the far north. Noise is not an issue here. No one lives within about 8 miles of the field and it is in an area that will not be developed in a very long time if ever.

I wish I could run my 200 on mufflers, they sound awesome. It is a shame to put them on cans.

4 individual mufflers or are they 2 into 1? Regardless, I am still very jealous. That has been on my radar since it was announced. As was the SU-26MM. I don't understand the pull of these round nosed beasts.

The 4 cylinder is the best choice IMO. You can mount the rudder servos in the tail and the balance is perfect with the batteries on the CG. I am running the 29x12n from Mejlik and it pulls very strong. I do use full throttle on uplines, but it can easily do a double snap and continue on even in the wind. I am not sure of the rpm's, but I can check and post if anyone is interested.

I concur. We tried a 170 on RE3's and it was OK as long as you tried to keep it as light as possible. Had too many CG problems with that light of motor. It also wasn't the greatest performance and, during summer temps, it was struggling on the uplines. Definitely couldn't do multiple snaps on the up. Once a you put a 4 cylinder on it, it comes to life. Preferably 20 horse or more. The SU31 can handle more weight than most 40%ers but you need horses to combat the large round cowl. Put a 4 cyl with greater than 21 horses and the plane is unlimited class. A real beast. We turn a Mej 30x13 evo at 6800 rpm.....power to spare!

Thanks for the info. I tried a 30x13 yesterday and it is definitely better. It recovers faster on the upline snaps and seems to need less correction. It is very much louder though! I will def have to use throttle management on the rollers if I keep the prop.

Here are some quick pics of the unpacking. No damage except for a couple of small scratches that were not from shipping. They are from the factory. One even has a small piece of tape with an arrow pointing to it with some writing on it. You can see the tape on the left side of the cowl. The other is on the top of the fuselage halfway between the hatch and fin. Both are very small. When I get time I will send Andy an email and see if they will send some touch up paint. For now I have to get back to bed as I have one 12 hour night shift left to go.

Thanks guys, now to finish getting the rest of the supplies to assemble it. As it turned out my Savox 2270 servos showed up in the mail as I was unpacking it.

Nice! I looked very closely at getting one of these but it was just a bit too big for me. The Extra fits through the front door more easily (the joys of living in an apartment).

I still remember what that was like. Lucky for me I just open up the garage door and wheel them in now.
