Hello From Washington

Hi, I'm Nick from Bonney Lake, Washington. I just started flying this past summer and I'm having a blast! I'm putting together my first gasser and planning to start flying IMAC this coming season. I've got a lot to learn and already I've found that to be very exciting but painfull at times. There seems to be a lot of help available in the R/C community which is very cool. I definately need it. The Plane is an 85" QQ Yak and I've got a 3W 60k with a Pitts muffler to put in it. Will that work?

Nick,
Welcome to the Giant's and hopefully welcome to IMAC Northwest! We've got a great group of people flying IMAC up here, all are very willing to help you out getting started in IMAC. Your plane will be perfect for IMAC. Have you started practicing sequences yet? Let us know if we can do anything for you.

Thanks Kev. Ya I have been practicing the basic routine on my G3. Still gotta get the plane put together. But I'm feelin' the pull! I fly at the RAMS club in Sumner. (Great bunch of guys) Lots of big planes & IMAC guys to help me get going.

That's totally cool! 5 of your servos are headed straight into my plane and the other two are for a buddy who is the president elect for our club. Darren is the club V.P. elect and a very good friend who is responsible for getting me started in the hobby and IMAC! Thanks for the deal on the servos. Another piece to the puzzle! Do you know if a 3W 60k is a good match for the QQ 85" Yak???

Nick,
I know a lot of the guys at Auburn, your right, your in good company! Those guys will keep you pointed in the right direction.

As for the 3W, as long as it's reliable (and it should be), it will be a great match. Your gonna love the plane also!

Hey Nick,

It's great to have you join in for the fun!

It sounds like you're on the right track, that plane should be just what you need. The 60 is a little heavier than some of the 50's on the market, but should fly it great. It shouldn't be hard to reach your CG by moving a few things around. If there is an option to have tail mounted servos, use it.
Place your batteries last to get the balance you want, piece of cake.

Welcome to the Giants!!!

Re: Hello From Washington

Kev, Can you give me a link or a site to go to to get a text for the IMAC sequences and maybe even some explanations of the kinds of things that the judges at the events look for??? And also, even though I can fly all of the basic maneuvers, any help with how to make them look good would be greatly appreciated.

Nick,
Here's the links to IMAC Northwest and to the National IMAC page. As for descriptions fo the sequences and judging criterea, you can download the flying and judging guide off of the national page, or better yet, if you PM me your adress, I'll send you a copy of it in the mail, we (IMAC Northwest) had some printed up last year and I have a copy or two left.
