Actual 100cc 3d ARF's?

Are there any modern 3D ARF's out there right now that would give legit performance from a DA100 on mufflers? As cheap as some of the used 100's are right now I am tempted to get another 100cc plane instead of a 60cc. Problem is that nearly every modern design is built to run a 120cc. I really like the idea of terryscustom's viper kit, but I barely have time to put an ARF together, let alone a kit and the PAU ARF version is bigger and made for a 120. So how about it? I really want something that will have DA120 performance out of a DA100

I have an Aeroworks 100cc Extra 300. It weighs 29lbs 4oz. and flys great with a DLE 111. I think they are just classified as 120cc planes because that's the biggest engine the plane will accommodate all things considered. Anything that comes in 26 to 27lbs will give you just as good performance as it would 10 years ago.

With that said, Aerobeez put a DLE111 on their 60cc 93" extra and it was a monster. So if you want ungodly power, that might be the way to go, or something along those lines.

If you are close to sea level a 100 is fine but you can have a new 120 for a few dollars more.

Used da100s go for $500, used da120s go for $1000. Thats a bit more than a few bucks

Horsepower saves planes but i do agree, my 40% extra runs great on a da150 on mufflers but its also pretty light. I like both slow 3d and sick acceleration. The 100cc overpowered planes make me smile though and that power to weight ratio is what i want from a stock da100

a DA100 will power around any modern 100cc class 3d arf just fine. Even more so if you use pipes.
Just because da has the 120, doesn't mean its absolutely necessary to use on. It is just what is, more cc's, but in the end, modern 3d flyers don't need full throttle 98% of the time right?

Id take a smooth running da100l over a shaky da120

I've got a Hangar 9 35% Extra 260 for $500 that flys awesome on a DA100... You have to pick it up in Nor-Cal is the catch..

I totally agree with the OP. There are a lot of new "120cc" designs out there. But, there are still TONS of 100cc planes that can be build around 25lbs. 3dhs 103" extra is one. I live and fly over a mile high. Up here, weight, and power are everything. Most "good" planes at sea level fly like fat, heavy, gutless pigs up here.

Ok, here is my list of true 100cc 3d machines:

EF extra
Pilot yak, edge
3dhs extra
Aeroworks Edge, and og260

Basically, anything that can be built under 26lbs. My buddy got his 103" 3dhs extra down to 23lbs. 2-1300 mah lipos, tech - aero ibec, and one badass servo per surface. He charges every other flight, but he is running a DA-120. A 100 would need the rudder servo to be mounted in the tail.

meh...all of the advertised 120cc class airplanes can use a 100cc engine and still do aggressive 3D....its all a marketing ploy.

Buy what you want and you wont have a problem with 100 or 111 engine

I have a V3 111 I'm considering selling to try a ZDZ112 in an upcoming project.

Been on the shelf for a year since I sold the EF 110 Yak, not even broken in, Bowman Rings, Walbro carb ( new from DA and both on this engine since first startup).

DA100 compact mufflers.......not the crappy slimline ones, the original old ones with DA engraved in the front and nice welding. Has new HV ignition as well.

Swung a 28x9 Falcon and tossed the 110 around with plenty of authority. I put it in the 110 after the DA120 shook all kinds of stuff loose in the plane and I was tired of fixing it after every trip out.

$625

I wish we still had it in stock but even the Extra 330 SC that OMP sells that has a 108" wingspan weighs in at 26 lbs with a DA-120. I am pretty sure it would do just fine with a DA100 in her.

You can buy an Aeroworks 85cc and it will fit perfect with a lot of power, do you fly at sea level?
