I was told that Viton does not stretch (due to ethanol) like Tygon does. It is more resistant to the ethanol in todays gosoline but, it does deterioate causing small particles to come loose from the tubing, contaminating carb screens and, filters. Is this true?

Hey Backfire. Probably is but Viton tubing is just that, doesn't need to be RC related. Small parts .com had the 10' lengths in several different ID/OD. Around $50. Best price and quantity I could find.

I have not experienced that and have been using it for a couple years now, It also has great thermal properties too RE: hooking up to mufflers for smoke.

Ditto, I have been using Viton in all my tanks for two years now and it is still like new. No more redoing tanks every winter. I am curious to see how long it lasts.

You're thinking of neoprene fuel line, it dissolves slowly over time and plugs the carb up with tiny black specks. Viton does not deteriorate in gas, it will last for years.

Pretty spot! Been over that road many times; it's not quite so pretty in the dead of winter in a snowstorm lol..

I can't count the times I have read things like this in this Thread, Engine runs fine on the ground after a few minutes in the air Engine leans out and dies. Engine dies when flying inverted. Went in to knife edge and the engine dies. While doing rollers leaned out and died. Engine surges while rolling etc. etc. etc. finally had first hand experience with some of the above The guy has been flying for years. I asked him about his tank setup, he said he had just assembled it and got rather mad about me even asking him about it. There are 3 photo's of what I found in an earlier post. After taking the tank apart I could not believe my eyes (short 10oz.DU-BRO tank with large tygon line and two clunks (3 Line setup) that are almost the same size of the line. I am not the sharpest pencil in the box, and I have my share of problems. My question is how many issues such as stated above could be as simple as this. The simple thinge are usually what bite us in the arrsss and are easily over looked.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Guys

I ran into the same thing when I assembled a small tank for a 30cc plane using Viton. It is rather thick as well and is about the best line for inside fuel tanks as it last pretty much forever and does not go stiff like Tygon. Problem is with such a short tank and the thickness of the Viton line I have it would not flex enough to touch the bottom of the tank. I had to remove it and use some thin wall generic gas line. If I can find a source for some lighter Viton I am going to pick a bit up for these smaller engines.

Guys,
Check out EBAY for your Viton - best price I found.
Also, there are many, many grades of VITON as it is used in many different industries for different reasons.
Grade B is an excellent choice and one of the best - Durometer 60 is the softest - 70 is more stiff.
So look for Grade B 60 durometer and you'll be all set.
Guy I found was selling it in 6in increments so be careful you order correctly to get what you need.
