the actuators for our Predator series of UAV's are similar in that there is no "Pig Tail" to connect to... the electrical connections are plugged directly into the servo...

In many instances, this can reduce the number of connections in a setup....

Bout time they came out with servos like these. Not "wireless" though - customizable would better describe it.

I always thought this would be a great idea. Makes service so much easier also reduces the connections as you could just get the lead length that you need straight from the servo.

How often are the leads on the servo the length we need? We are constantly adding extensions. Wouldn't be better just to plug straight into the servo?

Understood, however they are just adding a connector (and complication) to a joint that was soldered (and simple). Now the connector is much more likely to be a point of failure than the previous solder joint. You would have had to add the extension anyway....they just moved the connector.
I dunno......maybe its a better connector and less likely to fail. It just seems to me that they're adding variables to something that didn't need variables added to it. And it may add cost......they're adding Two connectors to the equation (one on the servo and one on the lead), and you'll have to buy proprietary extensions. Perhaps its cheaper in labor to build the servos this way but they're certainly going to charge more for the "enhancement" as well as a premium for the fancy extensions.
Anyway, this is just my humble opinion. Working in the electronics industry for the past 30 years has taught me that most failures are centered around a point of connection....so minimizing them is always a good thing.

The sooner we get that the better! Then all we need is an easy way to build custom length extensions, or maybe we just call them pigtails since we aren't extending the pigtail anymore.

Maybe the come with a standard 8" pigtail?

I wish the ignition boxes had a connector for all the wires, including/especially the spark plug lead.

The idiots that manufacture all servos need to get their heads out their arses and put multiple connection points on the exterior of the servo cases. Why do they keep putting the the wire lead in line with the mounting screws, why not put them off to the sides so we can route the wires directly to the receiver, make sense?

Great idea... surprising that it took this long.

Yes...makes perfect sense! Hopefully that will change in the future.

I'm still waiting on Bluetooth servos...then they will truly be wireless and really expensive.

I agree.

Also, when one learns how to make own your servo leads, the standard actual servo lead length is a non-issue. However, the real issue is the servo lead connector itself,,, its 60/70's technology on a 2013 product
