60-90 Extra 300 on Gas

With the new DLE 20 coming out in the next couple of months we wanted to make sure it would work on our 60-90 Extra 300 and 260. We put the first 6 or 7 flights on the airplane last week and were EXTREMELY impressed!

The airplane weighs about 7.25 pounds and has incredible power. It is pretty rare to see an airplane this small perform as well as it did on gas but I can honestly say I am excited to get one soon! This is the perfect hassle free throw around airplane that many of us have been waiting for.

We are working on an installation addendum that will include all of the necessary mounting hardware and templates that we hope to have around the time the motors are released. Please take a look at the pictures below, as you can see the motor mounts very cleanly on the airframe.

Very nice. Curious what you used for batteries for RX and Ign. and / or BEC to power the ignition. Also, what prop did you test that gave good ground clearance?

Thanks!!!!

We used one 2600mah fromeco Li-ion battery for both the servos and ignition. We had 3 leads coming out of the regulator, 2 went to the receiver and one went to the ignition. So far I've flown it with a Xoar 17x6, Menz 15x6, 15x8, 16x6 and a 16x8, so far the 17x6 has been the best.

We will hopefully have a video up soon.

This may be a stupid question, but which regulator has three leads exiting it?? I am just working on knowledge to convert to A123's for next year. This sounds like a GREAT setup!!!! I already have my DLE-20 on order, may have to get one of these Extra's on order while you have them available!!!

Thanks again, looking forward to the vid.

fromeco can be ordered with one, two or three leads.

The battery has 3 leads coming from it. The regulator for the ignition would be put in after the ignition switch. Looks like he has 2 switches for the RX on the left of the airframe, and 1 for the ignition on the right.

If you are switching to A123's then you don't need to worry about regulators.

Correct, except for the ignition. I got my A123's from Hangtimes (NoBS), but only got one lead for my intended use. For a smaller plane I'll have to order with additional leads, did not think about that.

Depends on the ignition. I just run a diode voltage drop on my DL ignition. Drops the the voltage about .7 volts. Align sells them. Heli guys use them to step down the voltage for tail rotor servos I think. Works great. No problems after 2 years with it.

So many light-weight options, sounds like a good one, thanks!
