Float planes---show us your pics
Let's get this kicked off to a good start----After spending the morning on the lake I have a few pics that Wallygator shot. Wally shot some video and he said he will post it later to this thead. Anyone out there with pics of float planes and a story. The J-3 cubby is a 1/4 scale H9 cub with electric power utilizing 9S 5000-paks giving about 10 minutes of solid fly time, I think I put in 9 or 10 flights despite the heat---it was a great day on the water.

The Decathlon does not lend it's self to water duty, the symmetrical wing and the shortened tail feathers do encumber the plane on float duty. A Clark Y airfoil and some length to the fuse are ideal for floats. I have flown the full scale Citabria on floats and to be honest it is not a good float plane, it really is a dog. I would suggest a J-3---super cub airframe being much more suited to float plane duty. The Decathlon is designed to do aerobatics and a great job it does in that environment. You want to look for a big wing to create the lift at the slow speed to get the airframe airborne. I have a Aeroworks S2 cub with the 110" wing that would make an ideal float plane and my S2 should be on floats by mid September, your Mintor 33 should be able to haul it out of the water if it makes power in relation to the 110-220.

Good time today helping Sherman today. My camera went dead so the good stuff is on Rob's camera and I will edit those tomorrow. Looking for something myself in the 1/4 scale cub range to put on floats. Lots of things coming up soon and three surgerys to get done before next March. Gonna make that Duck buy me a new plane... LOL
