You would be amazed at how much colder it has been here than down there. There is a big difference in -teens wind chill and -teens temp. Our wind chills have been exceeding -50 pretty regularily for the last couple of weeks.

That being said our temp is supposed to be above 0 today without much wind. So I am going flying. Wind chills just below 0 that is sweatshirt weather. Infact I was just out with my dogs for an hour with just a sweatshirt on. About 8 degrees and a slight breeze. Awesome!!!

Hey Guy's waatttsss uuuppp!!!! We had a heat wave today.Rapid City SD. there were quite a few RCACES out flying at our Field thanks to Josh and Jason Franke and myself taking the time for snow removal using Josh and Jason's 643 Diesel Bobcat to get rid of the 4' high 200' long Drift at the Gate the 6" of snow on the runway ,and road down to the parking lot at the field after the blizzard we had at the end of Dec. Our runway is dry the parking lot is dry and no drifts to contend with. Thank you guys. here are some shot's we took today 1/10/2010

Went to the field Sun couldnt get in, snow drift was 4 feet plus high and the runway was completly covered, so I went and flew my electric and then started all my gassers and spent a great day covering my 42% Slick. Jerry if I knew that the Aces field was open I would have come out. Back to covering

You guys are nuts! Just indoor flying here in Billings Montana for me. I have a rule of thumb that prevents me from flying in weather like this..............

Rule of Thumb; If I can see my breath my thumbs stay in my pockets

Re: What's up in the MidWest

I just got word that the Black Hills Air Rally will be on again this year in Sturgis, SD. The dates have changed to Labor Day weekend (September 3rd, 4th, and 5th). The best part........ No Landing Fees. The other bit of good news is an IMAC contest is in the works for the last weekend in June here in Rapid City, SD.

Later,
Zac

Hey Speedmaster the picture of that 3W CS 275 on your test stand looks great. I take it that's the engine going in the 50% biplane. Looking foward to seeing that one. We were out yesterday working with "Doc" Ray Burnett on his landings. Doc has really advanced his Piloting skills this past year. Here he is Practicing his landings with his Hangar 9 Extra 260, power Moki 2.1, Prop 20X10
