You're right about the tip of the aileron showing slightly further out on the plans, and with the sheeting may move slightly urther out.

I had thought about that and am gambling that i can shave some off the round leading edge in order to get a good match if necessary.

Re: Barry's Little Ziroli P-40 Build

The wing panels are finished and ready to be joined. In the pictures it doesn't show the shear webs but I glued them in after checking the dihedral. Also my next P-40 with a German Paint scheme without rear windows. I haven't ever seen a P-40 without them but I like it. This paint scheme is undetermined as of now.

The wing is joined and the fuse is now fitting nicely on it. Here she is sitting on her gear and looking good in my opinion. My deadline is coming fast and I still have a long ways to go. I still need to epoxy the tailfeathers in place thats why they aren't level.

Re: Barry's Little Ziroli P-40 Build

Sorry for the long absence but I have been working on the 40. I permanently installed the servos in the fuse except for the throttle and choke. I also now have 4-40 pushrods working smoothly in their guide tubes. I sheeted everything on the fuse with the exception of the fillet area that needs to be completed once the wing is mounted. I also left a small area in front of F4 and F3 open on one side so I can put a 3/16" donut with a 1/2" hole in it for the dowel if the wing doesn't line up perfectly. The air system is installed and awaiting glassing so I can make a hatch for all the gadgets.

PS: I'm also having a fire sale on my canopy rails so if you need some now is the time to get em.

Thanks for all the pictures! Your posts really help me. I am currently building a Ziroli P40 and I cut all the parts by hand so it's a long process but I guess I am old school…

ooh no! I am so sorry to hear that… This is indeed an excellent thread. I keep going back and forth reading it and looking at the pix as a guide for my own project.
