Loving this bird on the DA70
Here is a short video showing my Extra in a few pull outs as well as a shot of it pulling the scale.
The motor keeps getting stronger and started ripping the 24x9 yesterday. Before motor was up to test start temp... it was pulling just over 42lbs on the scale. RPMs were virtually identical as the week before, but pulled almost 1.5lbs more with a start temp of 215F on temp sensor. Only difference was the ambient temp was -6F this week vs 26F last week.
So I now have two data points:
Ambient temp 26F, 6870RPMs, motor temp 215F, steady 38.7lbs on fish scale.
Ambient temp -6F, 6900RPMs, motor temp 215F, steady 40lbs on the fish scale.

Bryan, cool. Thanks for data and video. Myself completing final touches in my build and planing maiden at spring. Can't stand winter flying. We have simular weather condition as you here in Sweden this time of year.
Also having a DA70 bolted on.

Should be noted: I forgot to add that the first data point at 26F the motor was running a hair rich with only 1.25 gallons through it. When going to -6F it was darn near tuned without touching needles. Motor now has 2.25 gals through it.

Bryan, do have an all up weight of your plane?
Myself add some weight by include a nice pilot figure, JJ tail wheel, WR wheels and axels. Using dual 2400mAh Lipo and AeroTech BEC for ignition, smoke pump, dual MTW 40 canisters. I put some effort in making Air inlet duckt and installing louvers for exiting air of cowl. Hopefuly be able to tune the engine good without over heating it.. Thanks Brian,
By the look of it, fairly simular set-up,
My Genace Lipo are by a closer look 2600mAh, 101g ea
HS8385 all over 68g ea except rudder HS7980 78g.
Dubro fuel tank 24oz two line DA fuel dot. Dubro 14oz smoke tank.
Emcotech smoke pump 90g and approx total 100g with all fittings, tubes niples ect.
As you NoLimit CF 4" spinner. Biela 3-blade 22x10 and Mejzlick 2-Blade 24x10 to try out.
Also 20gauge leads all over.
Emcotech dual battery switch 32g.
No weight needed for balance.
Then the JJ tailwheel and white rose main wheel, pilot figure is additional weight penalty.
Hoping to get onto IMAC type of flying. This is my first gas plane. Still nice to see what performance to be expected. I would guess mine is another 0,5lbs heavier than yours.

Bryan did you have to cut the cowl for the plugs to fit your 70 in?

Looks really good. I like the color maybe a little more than the grey stone paint. Is it monakote or painted? Can't tell on my phone.

Thanks Bryan that is too bad but at least its only one side. You did a real nice job with the tubing trim. What is the width of the DA70 at the caps? I wonder how the EME70 might fit but i do love the DA.

The trim is this stuff... Much cleaner looking then tube trim. Also comes in different sizes, but 1/8 works for the stuff I use it for and gives a small crisp line. Also a nice heli canopy edge protector... I have it on my 700 Goblin since the canopy goes on the way it does.

Edit: here is the da 70 drawings: http://www.chiefaircraft.com/pdf/DA70Views.PDF
