Question
DLA 128cc 4 cylinder QUAD BOXER
What ARF- warplane or scale plane -not including a 3D plane-- is available that will take the DLA 128cc 4 cylinder . The Bill Hembel 46% Pawnee is to big the 25% is to small.
I ended up with this on a trade and can not find a good plane to fit it in. Weight is like 7 pounds. A DLE 120cc is a lot easier to fit but the looks and sound of this DLA 128cc is unreal. The Hangar 9 33% Pawnee is the only one so far I can find that comes close to fit. I would realy like to do some other plane besides a Pawnee--have two already |

Thanks so much for mentioning the Columbia 400... Everyone has a Cub or a Decathlon . It's like watching paint drying to fly one.
I was looking for something different. And yes a 33% to 35% would be in the area that this motor would work. But the Pilot 400 is something you just don't see a the field. |

Yes, Pilot 400 is much more sporty looking. But The big Pawnee has been a good choice for me. I use it as a tug for 4m gliders. And the smoke system I have is always been a crowd pleaser at WOT at 1 foot off the deck

I was talking about the Cub being sportier with the right pilot LOL!

When you're looking for the airframe, keep in mind that the 128 quad is not as powerful as a 120 twin. If you want something exciting, look for something that is intended for an 80 / 85cc - 100cc engine you'll probably be disappointed with it in an airframe intended for a 120cc engine. If you want scale, Comp ARF does a nice Marchetti. |

They are a great motor for the money and seem to be holding up well. Below is a picture od my slick from Joe Nall 2014 with the 128. This winter I am cutting the firewall 1" so everything fits nicely under the cowl and the spinner to cowl spacing is correct. https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...5a9a071de1ccdc |

Interesting. It's the "A" at the end of DL that makes most of us cringe. But, if it's working well for you great! Please, report back when you have 50 or 60 gallons through it! If it holds up for 100-200 gallons like 3W and DA, I'd be astounded.
