Question
Do I need a power expander with AR12020?

Hi all,

I am getting ready to pull the trigger on my first 35% plane. My other planes have been quarter scale size until now. I am looking at either the hanger 9 Extra or Pilot Extra. I plan on using an AR12020 with dual batts/regulators. Is there any reason I need a power expander like Smart Fly?? I think I'll be using HS-7955TG's all the way around.

No, but if your worried about adequate battery connections, battery share, etc, simply buy an AR12120 instead...

Why do you need a 12 channel? I use the AR9110 in my 104 AJSlick and 91 EF Extra.

Me personally I would use a 12120. A power expander is not needed. If you were a 3d maniac and using bigger servos, I would consider a power expander.

I'm running ar12120's in 4 35% and 3 40% planes with different combinations of 7955, 7950 and 7980's and A123's without issues. No jitters and no blowback noticed.

I just swapped over to the AR12000 DSM2 Rx, as my 9 ch's don't have enough ports for me. I am using a capacitor to help me not go below the LVC on the Rx. Each servo has its own channel, everything is mixed and matched via Tx.

12 flights on my 34% Yak 55M and no problems.

Also, no PE. The bus in the Rx can handle 35A.

That reciever with a wolverine switch with 3 to 4 power inputs will provide more than enough current to power your plane. I would use this setup if not already using the power safe recievers.

I am glad to hear that. Also with the built in servo balancer, there are no matchboxes. It should be a really clean setup.
