Question
Aeroworks 50cc sport cub.
Does anyone know if the AW sport cub is the same size as a quarter scale or is it overall bigger? I would like to get one but they are spendy. Would a Hempel be a better option? I would prefer to have flaps and the Hempels dont.

Beware the spiral of death. They do not like to fly slow, or get man handled with low airspeed. I know a couple guys that lost them due to tip stall.
Look at the World models versions. I have two 1/3 Cubs and love them. Also, they have a 50cc Paulistina as well. |

I had this plane with a DLE 55 on the business end. I had no issues with this plane. I have heard about guys having it snap or ground loop on takeoff. Trying to take off with not enough air speed will cause any plane to stall and drop a wing. I thought it was a very nice flying plane. A bit of a pane to set it up with all the nuts and bolts.

The world models Pualistina is a great flying bird. I have seen that fly at the club.

I have owned both and still have a Hempel cub. Buy the Hempel Cub. It is better constructed and flys MUCH better. You won't be disappointed.

Get the Carbon Cub! It's great!

We decided during the design phase NOT to put flaps on our Cub. We did this so we can keep the air frame lighter for better performance. Less construction for the flaps, 2-less servos make for a much lighter plane that will fly better than most.
Thanks for your consideration. |

Hempel is out of the grasshopper so I ordered the clipped wing 25%. It is hard to choke down the price of the sport cub and you dont see nearly as many people rave about the aeroworks like they do the Hempels. We will see how she flies.
