There are a few other points that have been made here that should be addressed. The idea of not needing guns because you don't travel in bad areas is one. The people that live in bad areas don't rob each others houses, there's nothing there to steal. They drive to your neighborhood because you have stuff to steal. Another thing is the concept about gun laws. After we got the background check law there were approx. 15,000 felons who attempted to buy handguns and were stopped and reported. The Federal government didn't bother to prosecute a single one. If they don't bother with the laws they have, why do they need more???

My point was, just how much firepower do we as citizens feel we need for personal protection.
or own just for the hell of it. at some point enough is enough.......hell there is probably someone out there that would like to have a nuke launcher in their backyard with the green button on the nightstand beside their bed

Hell, I could have as much fun shooting targets with my .22 semi and the ammo is a hell of a lot cheaper.

Last time I looked... those weapons (AK47s and such) were banned under several different regulations long before that shootout you are mentioning at the Bank of America in California... and it sure looked like the LAW helped stop the criminals from getting those weapons didn't it... oh wait, no, it didnt. People have to realize that criminals don't give a **** about laws and rules... thats why they are criminals...

Probably. But I doubt that person would be a responsible, sane citizen.

Personally, I'd like to have a 20mm cannon, but I don't really have a place I could shoot it unless I head way out into the country. Therefore, a .50BMG rifle would be enough for me. Even though it's not practical for much of anything they're still a blast (hah) to shoot.

If we were really the paranoid crazy psychopaths that many people view us as, you'd see a lot more of us wearing body armor. The truth is, we're just normal people who like having a means to defend ourselves.

I want a private Army....but I think Blackwater beet me to it!
