I can't speak for extreme flight but I usually go with a slightly larger gap and seal them.

Wait until you see the throws on my hempel yak with the pocket hinges...darn close to 90 degrees...more than usable...but the elevators make good brakes on the paved runway

I'm not the only one who loves to push these airplanes to their limits, but I will say that I wasn't able to break it as hard as I tried. I didn't do a full throttle parachute, but that's just something you don't do. I did do some full throttle walls and the wings don't even flex! This is the strongest airplane that EF has produced and unless you do something stupid, it won't complain.
I always leave 1/16" gap in the hingeline and seal them.

LOL! I've actually done that myself and went back and changed it later. The Blue painters tape comes off easy.

I remember doing a few IMAC's when I lived in PA. and a guy that did very well in Unlimited had the rattiest looking plane and used the regular cream colored masking tape as permanent hinge gap material.... LOL

when i was at da to get my 120 a month or so ago, they told me they only supply the "compact" mufflers now, they will no longer be selling the regular ones, so if you get it from them you wont have a choice....unless something changed very recently

Really? Only 1/8" stand-off? Basically one washer....
