Naw brother! In fact, she is setting me up with an EF 74" Edge build for the spring

... you know, a new gasser to get ready before [my first] NALL!!!!

Lots to catch up on, I'll hit you up tonight. Really great work with all the updates, I would not want to sort through all these rulings/guidelines on my own. Keep it up bro!

Good to know buddy. Missing the South big time. And yes, sorting through everything is time consuming. As stated earlier, there's a lot of he said/she said. Example: The AMA said it's OK to use our AMA numbers in lieu of the FAA registration number, but I can't find that specific statement anywhere being confirmed by the FAA.

The FAA was very quick to implement this registration process, but I know they will take their sweet time to update anything that relaxes the rules, even if it's something very small.

p.s. if in a few years, she still randomly surprises you with model airplanes, well then you have a real keeper there, my friend!!!

I agree as that would be the proper thing for the FAA to do.

I just registered begrudgingly. The only reason I did it is because it is easier (and a whole lot cheaper) to follow the rules than pay an attorney. I am going to use an engraver to put mine on the engine, just says it has to be visible without the requirement of tools, did not say easily visible. I personally don't expect any changes in how or where I fly, being I follow AMA's recommended guidelines anyway. With the exception of the 400' but as the FAA noted and I affirmed, "I will try". LOL!!!!

Great article, and should lay at least some fears to rest.

Here's another politician wanting some headlines and some attention. Doesn't even know we are registering at FAA.

Will pilots be required to have the FAA certification to enter and fly at AMA sanctioned events such as Joe Nall, Clover Creek, FG Huckfests, IMAC, etc?

It's going to be up to the CD/venue, it's not AFAIK (the last time I asked this very question) going to be an AMA requirement, though some fields may be required by lease to be in compliance with federal laws.

What a joke the molders of Florida should flood his office with calls demanding to speak to him personally, and or right letters, since he is completely un-informed.

Its uninformed politicians and government agencies which costs 100's of thousands of dollars in time and energy all to come back to the conclusion that the AMA has successfully regulated our hobby through training and development of its patron's and has prided itself on safety polices and accident rates.

Only to come back to the conclusion that the FAA is in direct violation of 336.

And further more these so called near misses bother me greatly, who's reporting these near misses? your telling me that 86 times in new York an airline pilot has spotted or had to divert his path due to a drone. These claims are Bull and trumped up (sensationalized) and these politician's are coming off half cocked. With only part of the story. This clown from Florida doesn't even now the 100 year track record the AMA has.

AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics) was formed in 1936. 80 years.
