Well, I got the maiden in on my replacement today. Just like the last one it flew great. I still have an engine issue to figure out, but that's life.

Re: 3D Hobby Shop 87" 50cc Extra SHP

ProBroDude, after seeing your SHP at Z3D I HAVE to get one! I've got an AJ Slick that I've flown the covering off of and I keep knocking the gear out of and couldn't imagine a quiver of planes without one but...

That SHP is sick. It would be on the way to my house right now if they were in stock. I will probably pre-order to make sure I don't miss out. I am just waiting to see If Ben/Scott/AJ come out with a new kick butt gotta have 50CC by then. They just never stop producing killer planes.

David,

The 50cc Extra's go quick. I rember when my wife, (Yes my wife bought it for me) ordered it they only got about 5 in the shipment. I think they were all gone in less than a week. I am very happy with this plane and more so with 3DHS. They are the bomb! We should get together so you could take the sticks.

They did! The 89" Slick is an insanely great plane. I have one to go with my SHP. You can't go wrong with either one. If you think the SHP looks big for a 50cc'er, the Slick looks like a 35% sitting next to my other 30% birds.

I flew 3D profiles for years until I started into GS planes. The 3DHS GS line-up is the best 3D GS line top to bottom that I've seen. Not knocking anyone else, I've got an EF Extra that I love. But my SHP and Slick are like nothing else to fly.

Have you thought about the 3DHS 30cc. How does the slick compare to the Extra SHP?

PBD, comparing the 89" slick and the 87" SHP, I'd say the Slick is a bit easier to break loose. In slab terms, the SHP is like a MoAss 60 - stable, very agile and forgiving if you over or under pilot it. The Slick is more like the original old school Chinn Yak - Extremely agile, easy to tumble and break loose but the Slick is more forgiving than the old CY. I guess in my opinion, the 89" Slick is the closest thing to a hardcore 3D slab that I've found in a fatty. Saying it's like a big foamy doesn't do it's ability to track justice, imho.

Either one is an absolute joy to fly. I tend to take the SHP out when I know I'm going to be doing precision mixed with 3D and the Slick when i just want to go balls-out nuts. If I could only have one, I'd never be able to choose.

Bill, I have an 89" Slick and I agree with your assessment that it is a wild 3d machine. I got one flight on it at Z3D and tore the gear off in a gravity assisted harrier bonk landing.

I think the SHP would fit right betweent the AJ Slick and my 35% TOC Extra. "And that will be the last plane I would ever need..." Well, until the next one.

That's interesting Bill. For me it's the exact opposite. Either way, both are great airframes, and these differences are more "subtleties" instead of "stark contrast".

Guys - We're on the road to SEFF (had less than 48 hrs at home after Toledo) so I can't respond to the threads much. Thanks so much to everyone for all of the compliments about the SHP. Scott nailed the aero on this one and our partner factory does a great job to keep them straight and light for us. Very glad everyone is enjoying the plane.

As many of you have noticed, we cannot keep them in stock. We're building a new batch now, but it will be a couple of months before they'll arrive at the warehouse. We're doing some updating on colors and things for this next batch. I'll post updates ASAP.

Thanks!

3DHS

Agreed. The airframes are both extremely capable. I think each person finds different qualities in a plane that make it "better" for whatever style they're flying. With these two, you just can't miss with either one.
