Plane feels underpowered with da35 and 20x10 at 12.5lbs but its early yet. Having issues with seems like most everything on it.

My GP 81" Yak54 with DA60 is wailing. 1138 sq in, 1225 for the EF.

I'd say GO FOR IT!!! Aaargh!!!

Mine was powered with an EME35/stock exhaust and Xoar 20x8 at 750'asl. It could have used more power, but I still enjoyed it. I cut my 3D teeth on a Double Vision and DA50 on stock exhaust. I learned how to work around marginal power. If you feel more comfortable with monster power, especially when you get in trouble, I'd probably go with the 50cc.

Got some time on mine today... engine screams with 20x10- lots of prop noise. Looking into 20x12... plane hauls nicely, not as much a hot rod as the DA60/GP 81" Yak, but close. Tons of fun once various issues got sorted out.

And lots of airframe noise- you guys doing anthing to attenuate the chatter at the wing root/fuse joint? The rear edge of my wings touches the fuse- I was thinking vinyl stick on shelf liner?

We use tool box shelf liner from Harbor Freight. The wing to fuse fit on this plane is not that great, but I don't recall it being a noise issue.

Yea 5150, the fit is very good on mine, ended up using about same as what you suggest- cut the noise in half; plane is quite quiet now. The trailing edge at the fuse was crazy clangy in spite of the nice fit, dampened well now.

Root cause is the vibration and working on that. One thing after another but plane is getting much better. Finally getting some enjoyable flights with more than a gallon through it.

After my VV40 seized up I was planning on putting a DA50 on my plane. Sent an email to Extreme Flight and they said that the airframe would be OK, but recommended a smaller engine 30-40cc. Back to square one looking for a different power plant. I've got an electric set up available but have the gas version of the plane.

Hi guys,
Have a question to all of you and especially to those that have both 2.2m wingspan planes and 2m. Want to buy a gas plane but I have to choose from Extra 300 from Extreme Flight 2m wingspan OS GT 33 ( I hope is good combination ) or Pilot RC Yak 54 2.2m wingspan with DLE 55. Question is does it really makes a difference on those 20 cm at wingspan? The fuselage length are almost identical so personally I would chose Extra 300 with OS GT 33 but want it to ask your opinion as well. Another question would be the fact that Extra 300 comes with inch screws which is a pain for the European countries in case you need others? Thx in advance for your feedback.
