I am referring to painting the cowl and the canopy/hatch.
I am dreading this step, but also cannot consider paying someone over 500 dollars to do this, that is way too much to ask for. At least, this is how much the guy from Brocks Collision center wants. When he told me, i really thought that maybe he was smoking something other than tobacco.

You are paying that in labor and materials cost to have someone paint for you. Best to find a buddy that does it all on the side. If you get it all prepped, he can spray it and save a few bucks over what a "body shop" charges.

My 35% Carden paint job alone was $700. And that was from bare glass work to finished product. Now, I did help some on it. And then I had to do another hatch and cowl for it, and just really cost me paint costs. Now, I need to do it a 3rd time......

here it is after I painted it. To paint this cost me about 40 dollars. I had all the other things laying around.

$500.00 is cheap, I wouldn't do it for that.

The wings are ready now for a good final sanding, then, to thoroughly remove all the dust from both wings/ailerons. Then, remove the wings from the shop (take them inside the house (dining room table), and again, repeat the removal of dust (brush, tack cloth, compressed air, wipe down with alcohol), then covering can resume. Should be within 3 months now.

Thank you!

For some reason, i was thinking that the Yak was shorter than the 300 ML, but I am wrong. I put both of them side by side, and if i use a spinner on the Yak, then they will be same length.

It is definitely taller, and the sides have greater surface area.

As soon as I cover the wings, and install the aileron servos, she should be good to go!!

Hopefully within next 6 months.

Just finished her, well sort of:

Still needs some fine tuning, programming, matching elevator halves, checking the travel, etc.....

The total weight: empty fuel tank is 46 pounds. With full tank of 2 liters petrol, it is 49 pounds.
COnsidering, my da 200 weighs 11 pounds, and the canisters weigh: 1.5 pounds, so total weight of that is 12.5 pounds, with the headers.

If I went with a DA 150L and stock muffs, it would weigh 8 pounds, and the airplane would weigh 41.5 pounds. I am very happy with my weight, as it is identical to the weight of my Dalton 300 ML with a DA 200 as well. I believe I would be delusional to think, this airplane with a DA 200 and canisters would weigh under 40 pounds. It is just not gonna happen! Maybe with stock muffs and coring out wings and not using any carbon fiber in the airplane.

The CG!!
It is on the front 1/2 of the wing tube!!
I am very happy with that, and this is with the batteries right next to the power distribution area. This means, I can fly her, and then adjust the batteries by moving them back, as needed, to Dial in my CG.
Also, I need to add the pilot and instrument panel, so this will help with the Nose heavy condition, if it is there.

I know they have been out for a ages, but I still love the RedAero pilots... just a shame they no longer sell the "visor up" versions.
