Hey guys I haven't seen either one of these in person, but I wanted some input from those who have or had any dealings between these models.. I think I want to make one of these my next project.. Thanks for the input

I've heard the ESM kits take a good bit of work - a little farther away from ARF than you might expect? No first hand experience though. I've got a TF P-51 that is a bunch of fun. Be interested in someone with firsthand experience as well.

I cannot comment on ESM's P40, but Ive assembled 3 ESM ARFs, 2-Corsairs & a SBD-5 Dauntless.... All three of the ESM birds req substantial amounts of work and IMO they are def not a beginners ARF. Its not just replacing the el cheapo hardware either..... from warped wing panels, improperly drilled hinge lines, incorrect wing incidences, excess resin left in tail setion from layup, wing setion faces un-true, ESM retracts were incorrectly machined. It just requires some attention to details....... Not ranting as they fly great IF built right

I have the TF and it is a top notch flyer! Only thing I don't like is the monokote wrinkling in the sun while at the field.

Well after going to Toledo, and disappointed in ESM's lack of product to show there, I did a complete different direction and decided to go with a CY Models, 100" SBD Dauntless. I talked to Century Jet and Bruce is going to make me a set of retracts that are more scale. With the help of a local flyer who has the Dauntless still in the box, we assembled the airframe and it fits and looks really good. He also has the CY Giant P51 which looks awesome and he flys it allot at the local field.. Very Excited. and waiting to get it...

Yes ESM are much more work. But the covering doesn't wrinkle as bad as the monocote.. And they have a much scale apperance ! That being said the top flight are easier to fly.

You are exactly right, ESM take much time to build, and heavy than TF, ESM's fuselage are fiberglass and TF's are with ply airframe. ESM's more scale and good looking, but TF easy assemble and easy flight.
