Scratch Built B-17 125"

Help!!!

I am starting a new project and I am wondering what would be the best way to start. The plans I got from e-bay. I am not new to building (i have built several kits), just new to scratch building. The plans are not specific on the sizes of wood to use or what wood to use. I plan to start with the feuselage, and then the rear stab and then the wings. What is the best way to go?

Some plans have you build the top half of the fuse and then flip it over and add the bottom. On Ziroli and some others you build a crutch on the plans and then suspend it in the air while you slide the formers over it. Take a look at the formers for the fuse and see if there is a split line drawn on the plan somewhere near the middle on each side. If it's there then you can make the fuse in 2 halves. If not then see if there is a solid hardwood rail (for lack of a better word) in the midle of the formers. This would be the crutch.
If you can take some pics of the plans that would help.

It is built left and right side for the main feuselage. I bought some light ply yesterday. I can always use it somewhere right?

Light ply is always needed. Is there any instructions on the plan for what types of wood to use? Like Bass wood, spruce etc? Left and right side is a different way to do it. Kind of like the Guilows kits.
I would start with the tail section. If you make a mistake there it won't cost much to replace the parts. Then cut out the fuse and get that all framed up. Of course pictures are required.!
