I have 1 8711 per stab but 1 5955 might be a little to little, but for imac it would be 100% fine.

Re: Composite-ARF Extra 260 3m Build

I madine my 2nd 260 last sunday and I also running 2 5955 on the elevators, they work fine. Its tricky to balance it (specialy if your running a 30X12 Mej, with Carbon Fiber Spiner and Stack Mufflers and Special personal paint scheme) I put my Rudder tray behind the Landing gear ply bulkhead, and al the Batteries up front and it still took about 7oz. of lead at the nose to balance it as Peter Goldsmith sugest in his Trim document, for a good track on a 45 inverted climb.

The airplane is flynig perfectly, at least for me, with this seting. Any assistance I can provide, feel free to ask.

Regards,

Hector

Re: Composite-ARF Extra 260 3m Build

as you can see from my final istallation I did not have to add no weight to get mine to balance out, I used a tru-turn spinner with a lite back plate and mtw cans for mufflers,if it becomes a problem just move the egine out a little, mine ended up about 3 to 4 mm on the the right side.and I put my rudder servos where they tell you to put them

One 5955TG is plenty for anything you can throw at it. I fly mine in Advanced class for IMAC and also 3D it a fair bit with 1 5955TG on each stab as do most of the guys flying them over here. Never even had a slight feeling i was getting any fade or blow back.

Hey Eagle1, I have my CG currently set at 95mm which is the setting I used at the shootout and the plane 3D's perfectly at this point. What you will notice with the 260 is it is a very neutral plane and moving the CG doesnt effect the elevators as you would expect. My 260 holds an inverted 45 upline with the same amount of elevator at 105mm as it does at 95mm. But where you will notice the CG is the way the plane locks into a IMAC line and the way it auto-rotates in a snap, as well as the knife edge mixing. Attached is a video showing how 3D capable the 260 is at 95mm.

Re: Composite-ARF Extra 260 3m Build

The Maiden fly was a success, I said the maiden was a success!!!!
First was the radio check after putting the plane together at the Odessa field. That turned out to baffle me and DA2000, went through the paces to find and correct the problem, DA2000 aka Daniel, thought it could be due to long extensions going to the elev, seen little wrong with elevator, I was thinking to myself here i go again on a 3 month venture on finding and correcting the problem, I was not able to see both halfs of the elev. on the initial range check, I was about ready to put the plane back in the trailer when I thought Hey lets change channel, so I went from 20 to 50 then tried it once more, worked great, Daniel talked to Don and he said that 20 thru 29 caused problems in the past, So we tried an engine running test, worked flawless, So I handed the radio to Daniel and he put the bird down the runway and into the air, first off I need to change the tailwheel setup, no control on the ground, turn the rud. but the wheel stayed straight, he gave it power and up in the air it went, performed several manuevers, comented on the cg saying it was right on so thanks everyone, he landed the plane with faness said it had a half tank so I took the controls and back up I went with the plane.....WOW...WOW...WOW...I did a vertical climb straight up it went without going to the left, hands free, rolling circles are solid, loops and rolls on a string, knife edge with little to no pulling to the inside, great first flight, sorry for no video, will vid on the second flight....Thanks Daniel for all your help.

No problem Shaun, glad to help.

You did a great job building it, and it showed in the first flight!
