So true!

Blue Loctite

When you put the PSP hose fittings together do you use any blue loctite on the threads or does the fitting o-ring keep enough tension on the nut to keep it from unthreading?

O-ring does a great job, but I do use a bit of Seals-all around the outside (nut-side) before I torque it home just to be absolutely sure!

Just so happens I just made my tank for this seasons' plane today, I put just a tiny drop of thick CA on the threads just before I tighten up the nut.

Has anyone run into the problem where a big enough tank winds up being too long? Are there any water bottles that have a bit more girth instead of length for the capacity?

Doug,

There is an option that could work for you, depending on the amount of fuel you want to carry and how much width you have to work with.

I did this on my 102" OMP Yak SP-55M as I wanted to have my fuel supply as close to the CG as possible. I had plenty of room for a 1000 ml Fiji bottle but there was too much gas/oil forward for my taste. LOL.......the extra work and cost probably doesn't make a hill of beans difference anyhow.

I used two 500 ml Fiji bottles so the volume and weight is spread across the fuel deck instead of forward. The fill tube runs to the left bottle and I have a couple of fittings on the bottom of the bottles so they can equalize. Carb supply is the right bottle. It just take a little more time to fuel/de-fuel but haven't run in to any problems otherwise.

Both bottles are vented to a t-fitting; that is working fine also. This would probably work for the 300 and 1000 ml bottles as well.

Yeah, I've been thinking about doubling up on the fuel tanks to minimize CG shift with fuel burn. Of course that means I've got $60 in fuel tanks instead of $30.. lol.

What size fuel line are you using with your PSP cap and fittings?

I'm using 0.125" I.D. Tygon and Viton on my tanks. It's a stretch to get the hose end over the fittings. To make it easier I:

1. Pre-stretched the hose end with a No. 2 Phillips
2. Used a little heat to make the hose end more pliable.
3. Use a little gas/oil mix to help the hose end slip over and push on to the fitting.

My vent line is 3/32" Tygon but the vent fittings are Tettra, they are a little smaller than the PSP.
