I sold the SAP 180 after too many problems, so I guess the thread just moved on so to speak....

I am more than happy with my Syssa I have found it to be a great combo with this plane. A little over 2 gallons thru and is pulling like a mule. Great sound with the factory pitts and has been very reliable with quick and easy starts. The best part is Todd at Syssa has been just as good with support after the sale as the whole team at 3DHS.

I recently got a PM request for a picture of how I did my setup. So here is a picture of the plane which is under winter maintenance. I had a 16 oz DuBro tank and it will be replaced with a 12 oz. A 16 oz tank and a DLE30 is good enough for 20 minutes of hard flying plus plenty of reserve. My nerves don't last 20 minutes doing 3D.

Here is summary of what I use:

  • Hangtime 2300 A123
  • Dual in and out switch
  • AeroTech IBEC
  • Volt Magic to monitor the A123
  • DLE tach
  • 12 oz tank
  • Nothing else exciting to report
My setup has worked great from day one and the 2300 A123 IBEC combo easily lasts 4 flights.

I know this is an old thread, but can anyone tell me what the dimensions are for the cowling? Specifically the width and height at the open end along with the overall length. I have an Ultra-RC Katana (which is no longer made) and i need to replace the cowl. Basically I am looking for a good surrogate. Thanks for the help

Ah sucks, I did have one, just barely sent it off to the bone-yard! I do have a 71" Slick though, if you want the dimensions of that one. Its 8.25 inches wide, and a bit larger than an Extra 330sc in all the other dimensions.
