I am going on my own personal usage of servos and a few friends that have used different
servos.I am going by what I have seen,as I know what the conditions were when the servo failed. How old it is,how many flights,is it installed correctly, was it in a bind, etc, etc.
The servo that failed on me was in the right wing on the aileron with no binding. It just started
jittering and going off center one day and then went to working fine.First flight and it did it again and is still doing it.That was 1 out of the 6 I bought. Not going to see if the other servos fail in a $800 plane again. As far as Hitec,I have used them before and never had a failure.
friend of mine has 645's in a GP Christen Eagle and has not seen a failure.
Just going on what I have seen personally and can afford at this time.
I am not bashing Power HD's,good servo for the money, just stating what a servo almost cost me.
Like I stated,I know any servo can fail any anytime.

Most likely in the spring we have a lot on our plate right now with the business and we really do not want to rush the install on this plane.

I've got the GP PT-17 with DS090M's and a DLE 20 in it. Great flying plane.

The 9150's have a larger user base, they have been out longer, and you can get them from U.S retailers with gears.

The S4020's are new, with a growing user base, but as far as right now there are no U.S dealers so gears/support may be hard to come by.

The better of the two per specs is the S4020's, but overall, taking everything into consideration the 9150's edge ahead.

I have 18 HD 9110 in operation. They work and center well, if they survive the first 10 minutes of operation . Already 3 of them burnt during the first 10 minutes. Now I am always doing a test for 10 minutes with the servo monito of my TX and the RX connected before I install them.
So I would have three brand new spare gear sets to offer......

Btw have 12 HD-9150 servos in operation without any problems.

Power HD Servos

Hi all..........new here on FG as this is my first post.

I have not used any other brands and I've had all positive results with the Power HD servos. Starting with the small HD65 for my foamy, the HD2216MG on the rudder/elevator for my 40" Edge to the HD9150 and DS120M's on my 71" Slick, I have no issues to date. One of my DS120M's died on my servo tester but it was replaced without question by TBM.

I've been flying them for 5 months, they still seem to be as good as new. No unusual heat during operation, no slop in the gear train, center accurately, responsive to TX inputs and they travel through their range of motion quickly and quietly. Several of them tend to buzz from time to time but I think that may be a digital trait??

I'm getting ready to purchase the OMP 85-100cc Yak 55 or Extra 300. I'll use Power HD (8 servos) in this plane as well. Most likely the 9150's all around except for the rudder (8325HV) and might use something with less torque/speed for the throttle.

Power HD seems to be a quality servo at a reasonable price. Maybe I've been lucky so far but the RC industry seems to be "you get what you get" when buying something and price doesn't seem to be a very good indicator of quality..........lol. Not picking on servos, just my initial view from someone that hasn't been in this hobby very long.

Anyone have a line on where I might be able to get some PowerHD decals?
