RC Excel works just fine

have 3 of the rc excel switches, all have been flawless so far. Its a good unit. The smart fly is probably better quality.....that's just a guess tho as i have never had one. do have some of their(smart fly) other products and they are top notch.
if your 62 is a mag ignition i am not sure they will work with it ? |

Fly 2.4 gig, use a single A123 receiver/ignition pack, put an $8 diode (WrongWayRC, etc...) inline with the ignition, and call it good.

I'm going with the camp that its always better to have an optical kill than relying on a throttle linkage or servo as the primary means to kill the motor.

I believe in having the Optokill's but I also know if troubleshooting to eliminate it from the circuit to verify its not causing issues. Its just being safer to use an optokill IMO |

That option does not have the radio as an option to kill engine with switch assignment. That is using the older method of a hard switch on the plane or using the linkage to fully close the throttle and hope it kills.
If you want it "killable" from the radio switches through a channel, then you will need an optokill or similar. and then yes, whichever switch you prefer works fine. |

They both do the same thing, Turn engine on===Turn engine off.
