Thanks everyone! I'm really happy with how it came out. Usually on a project I either don't finish or I am unhappy with some aspect of it. This time though I'm pretty happy with everything.

Pistolera, graphics are coming. Peter Podlunsek sent me the original illustrator files so we don't have to guess. I just have to get dimensions and get together with Trojan Man to cut and apply them.

I just realized that the 2.5" standoffs that I had on my EF extra wont work on this airplane. It needs 3" standoffs. The upsode of that as I see it, is there is no need to cut a hole in the firewall for the carb. I hate carb spit in the fuse, its such a mess. Well not on this airplane.

How about an update. My SPH keeps getting better and better each time I fly it.

It's an old trick, but a no-brainer, IMO(especially when mounting an engine on long standoffs like on this plane), to drill about 5 equally-spaced 1/8" holes around each bolt hole in the firewall and fill them with glue/hardwood doweling. This will allow you to crank down on the bolts pretty good without crushing the forewall (wich weakens it and it just gets worse over time).

I though this was a great idea... so I copied it.

I made a little jig out of a 2x4 so the holes could be drilled square. The MDF block is a sacrificial backer block. You bolt the tool and the backer block to the firewall and then drill through the guide holes into the backer block. Eliminates the tear out on the back side. The jig takes just a few minutes to make on a drill press.

Learned something new everyday .
