Optical kill issue?

Hey guys,
I am in the market for a new radio and it looks like the Aurora 9 is a great choice. I'd like to order one asap, but I'd heard a little while back about the "opto-kill issue" with this radio. I don't have the time to read this whole thread, so can you tell me if this has been fixed or is there still an issue running a kill? I am going to be putting it into a 50cc Slick with a DLE 55 and a Syssa IBEC/kill module. I looked on Hitec's site and did not see any product bulletins about it.

Also, what is currently the best priced place to get this radio? The best I am seeing is from ALL e RC through Amazon for the A9 with O9 Rx. Too bad I missed out on the free Rx promotion and holiday prices.

Thanks for the info!!
Rob

For those worried about reboots, just put it in perspective. A few years ago I was reading an AW&ST article on SW development for the F-22. No surprise, it was behind schedule, but was good enough to start the test flying. The SW manager was crowing about the fact that the flight control software was stable enough to go 8-12 minutes between reboots.

So if a test pilot was willing to put his personal ass in the air in a fly by wire, naturally unstable airframe with software that would restart every few minutes, what are you complaining about?

Because he's getting paid to do it, and doesn't have to pay for the plane if it crashes.

I own Futaba, JR, Turnigy. I had a long hard look at the A9 and decided to go for it. With my luck I got one with a bum module. Let's face it, it could've happened with any product. Point is, Hitec did not hessitate to offer to replace the faulty part.
I am a technician and most companies will limit their warranty to replacement of faulty parts. So in my opinion this is a super product and I can recommend it.

Love my A9,there have been some lockouts, and Hitec is not certain that it is the opto kills,it's just a theory they are looking at.Me personally,I have not had any issues, although I did see a friend that experienced a lockout.Hitec will soon have a firmware update that forces a reboot, and hopefully this will solve the issues. As has been said before, all new systems had their problems,
and they all got worked out.I have complete faith that Hitec will also solve their issues.
By the way,I am running the same setup you have suggested in the same airplane.
