Has anyone tried this website to Buy A123's

Hi folks,

I found a webstore that sells A123's at very remarkable price.
www.A123rc.com

I've placed and order and bought 4x 2300mAh's cells. These are the ANR26650m1a cells. It has a green shrink on it.
I'm not sure if they are original, genuine A123systems products or not. They didn't came in a package(like enerland's), they were bulk.

I wonder if anyone tried the cells bought from A123rc.com ???
A year ago I've sent an email to them and they replied as they're selling OEM products. I still don't know if they are orijinal or not Also now there is a new version of 26650 cells , m1b. They still sell m1a.
I noticed that hobbyking recently sells new 26650 m1b cells at very high price, may be it's worth that price, I dont know Old version were being sold at 18 usd. As you can see at A123rc.com they are at 8 dolars.

Opinions, thoughts, experiences ???

Thanx.

Sarvenn,

If it's these that you ordered http://www.a123rc.com/goods-101-++Na...0M1A+Cell.html they seem to be the the ones to get. You can test the cell's individually to make sure they are good.

Yeap, really cheap

Yeah, that link exactly what I bought. The ones that I received have minor differences on the printing and the shrink is more greenish. There is a barcode and under it the serial number, but it is beneath the shrink, it's printing on a sticker, applied on the cell, not printed on the shrink.
Tomorrow I'll try to add some photo.

Where is this place located? China? If the 2300's are genuine that is a killer price.

Buy your RX batteries from a known and respected dealer. Don't experiment with batteries out of China that are are so cheap you wonder if they are legitimate.

But if you do buy questionable batteries and lose a plane, please don't start a thread on FG hammering on Hitec, JR, Futaba etc....

Sure I won't do such a thing like that blaming other radio equipments to cause a crash without any scientific facts. But I guess I have the right to ask people their experiences. I'm still waiting for your shares if you have any experiences with this a123rc firm or other stores like hobbyking that sells A123s.
Please, let's talk and discuss on this subject, ok?

I've measured their voltage. They are all at 3.34 V.

Well there could be a couple of problems; A123 put out a warning some time ago and I cannot find the .pdf I had of it, about fake A123's and there are those selling genuine A123's which did not meet QA requirements.

Batteries are such an inexpensive part (considering total model cost) of most of our models and so very imporant, I'll stick with known local (USA) vendors for my packs...

Thanks for your suggestions and warnings Zeeb.
I'll do some testing before I fly with them of course.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, (possibly) but they look funny.

They should have a pearlescent glow on the green. The + symbol looks funny (too small), the Systems looks to small compared to authentic.

The fact that bar code is right under the name badge is weird as well. We get them like that every once and awhile. However all 4 you show are like that. Generally it is on the other side.

As far as Hobby King is concerned. (inside baseball on battery allocation from factory) I have heard stories. However I wont go any further than that.

Note: I am not a professional counterfeit battery inspector, just telling you what I see.

Sorry about the picture, just snapped really quick with cell phone. Sorry about the hand, I do bathe just got done staining a table.

Did another quick test in Photochop.

I lined up the RU and the A123 logo.

Yeah they do look a little strange. Here's a pic from the ones I bought from Hobby king a few weeks ago.
