Fuel proofing paint?

Hey guys,

Painting up a set of wheelpants this afternoon and I'm wondering what you all do to protect paint from fuel? They're going on a large gasser so actual exhaust won't be a problem, but the smoke system is going to hit them with deisel/atf smoke all the time.

A clearcoat would work.

Re: Fuel proofing paint?

What kind & what type of paint did you use, would be the question.

Did you a aeresol can or spray it with a spray gun.

Is it a enamel base paint or lacquer.

You can put enamel clear over lacquer color. But you cannot put lacquer clear over enamel.

So, enamel over enamal and lacquer over lacquer and this should be fine right?
Otherwise the E over L rule applys.
