Ear to the ground ??

I'm in the market for a new 43% er for next year. On Friday I had a long discussion with one of the movers and shakers in the hobby. He indicated there had been a problem with vibration on the DA-170 and DA had "detuned" it back some to minimize the problem. I was planning to purchase a new DA-170 for the 43% build, but now I feel more investigation would be wise. Any feedback on this problem, or your experiences with this motor would be appreciated.

I know that there was an issue with the early run of the DA 170 due to really high compression. You had to run the highest octane gas you could find also. Now the latest DA 170's are as smooth as it gets with any engine in its class. My Rec. DA 170, KS 95 cans , Mejzlik prop and a vess balance ring. Try that and you will never go back. Also, DA 150 is a great choice.

I almost forgot.............drop a 4-banger in it...........noooooooo problems. 4-bangers have the smoothest idle, bottom line.

Take a look at the Fox 200. Good option for the big planes.

You cant go wrong with the DA 170 and that combo. My friend has that exact setup and when he punches it on take off the plane hops. TONS of power.

I've run the newer DA-170 on RE3 pipes, Mej 30 x 13 and can say it has huge power. Very huge power. I plan to use it again next year in my 3.1m SU-26MMs.
