Jim does the sensor have tabs like the DA sensor ? If so why not drill and tap the snout? The front bearing is recessed in so there is enough room.

Hey Scott
The sensor is just a chip with three wires connected. The Nylon part is mine.
I was thinking about buying two new pickups from DA and removing their sensor and putting this one in but I didn't want to take the engine apart to drill and tap two holes. I plan on running the 38 around my yard and at the field a bunch before I fly it to see if this will hold up. If I have to rip the engine apart I will. It looks cluegy but it's pretty solid.

It will deffinatly work. I was just thinking weight wise. Taking the front hub off is not neccesary if you blow out behind it really good I would think. Even so to take the hub off just remove the spark plug and put the piston at bdc and fill the cylinder with rope from the spark plug hole. That will lock the piston in place without marring it. Loosen the center bolt then thread it on almost all the way and you can use the prop washer as a puller with a washer under the prop washer in the center hole for a spinner. That's just incase you wanted to remove the hub.
P.S. you can use a hub puller to but you knew that.

Hey Scott!
Well tonight I gave it a try. It WORKED!!!! It just ain't normal to be drilling and tapping holes into an engine!
Right now they aren't lock-tighted or gooped in place until I can power it up and make sure the pickups are the correct orientation.

While I've been waiting for the batteries to come in I got the Wings all done. One of them had some finger prints (mine ) in the finish. I must of had some oil on my hands while I was moving the parts before I cleared it, so last night I sanded the entire top of the right wing down to the primer and repainted it today. The top pick shows the wing I worked on next to the left wing. Color looks pretty close.
Tonight I got most of the cockpit in . As you can see the pilot is doing his own inspection. The batteries are suppose to be here on Monday so I'll be able to button up the fuse and run the engines!

Thanks Scott,
Now that it's mounted it's much better than the way I had it before. Glad I took your advice!

Tuesday night the guys came over and we got the landing gear and doors working but it was too late to lite it up. So Wednesday FlyingKlown, EasyEd and Espo came over and helped me run it up. One of the engines was sounding real bad but I found out I have a Bad IBEC and the prop bolts bottomed out and left the prop a little loose! I had to leave it in the stand because I couldn't find the needle valve to Robart adapter I made to fill the gear up until after we got it back in the basement.
I'll try to post video later but here's some pics.

Been working on the cockpit. Then pilot is in and ready. I have the canopy primed and ready for paint. I also need to get the spinners painted, do some tough-ups and she'll be ready to go!
