I will develop the tooling, make my parts, and send the tooling to Aerotech. The kits will have all these parts supplied with them.

Thanks for the answer on the sandpaper guys! I didn't know if you could use that carbide stuff on wood. The ACE had up to 600 grit I know but I want to say that maybe they had a little higher too.

Are you planning on a 1 piece or two piece cowling?

Mine will be a 1 piece, because it is cleaner and around 8 ozs. lighter.

To be honest with you, I have only got my sources to commit to 1 lb. density foam, but I know 3/4 is out there.

Re: Ultra Light 55% Extra 260

Hi Bob
It's Steve here from Australia how are you , each day I receive a up date on this thread . If this is produced as a
ARF using a DA 170 CC engine how much do you hope the ready to fly weight will be . The reason I ask is we had a 25kg weight limit here which is 55lbs , that has now been increased to 50kg being 110lbs . On the east coast some people have gone with the 100 -110 lbs aircraft , it's been slow finding somebody to inspect these so called GIANT AIRCRAFT with clubs and fields happy to let them fly . Over here on the West Coast we seem to be five years behind the East Coast, nobody wants to put his hand as a inspector so the problem of finding a field to fly is no longer a problem .if you cannot get your plane passed , they don't need to say yes to a field . So I would love to come up with a 164" w/span plane and arrange for one of these inspectors to come down to inspect it and when he sees the size of it say i am not inspecting that . Only to tell him it's 55lbs ready to fly , and see the look on his face .

Kind regards
Steve .

Hello Steve,

The 55% 260 will be produced by Aerotech R/C, and it will be marketed as a kit version only. This is the best way to control the overall quality and weight of the aircraft, if the instructions are followed closely with the suggested engine size ranges that will be also be in the instructions, the finish weight will come out in the mid to upper 40 pound range.

I hope this helps.

Bob

Isn't the 3/4 stuff what Carden uses now? Correct me if I'm wrong.

We at Aerotech are using 3/4lb foam in our kits. It is available from several foam suppliers. We are lucky and have one in Washington, IA about 75 miles from our shop.

Re: Ultra Light 55% Extra 260

Due to the overwhelming response on this airframe, we will be starting a "list" of interested buyers on Monday. Please PM me (as so many of you already have) and let me know if this is on your "to do" list and we will be able to judge the quantity of materials to include in our 1st production run. In order to keep costs reasonable, we are doing this kit in runs of (10). Will gladly do more than (10) on the initial run as the list seems to be greater than that already! If this is something that you guys want to have in your posession to get started on after the 1st of the year, get on the list now and we will accomodate you in the first run. We will not be taking any monetary deposits until the proto flies in Dec. upon that flight, we will be taking deposits. I'll let y'all know when that is happening!

For those of you that are wanting this plane but would rather have it "Pro Built", I know that John Light, of Models By Light, is planning on opening his tables to this project for customers. His list will fill up quicly so when you PM me your desire to have one of these babies let me know if you would like me to contact John for you and get you on his schedule as well.

This is gonna absolutely change the way we look at giant scale aviation guys! Be a part of it!!!!!!!!!!

More to come.................

Matt
