Oh boy. that's not good. Glad you caught it quickly. I've never had any leaks thank goodness. One other thing I forgot to add. I let my first coat dry in the garage overnight before I applied the second coat. Can't remember what the directions say, but I figured by waiting 24 hours it would be completely dry.. Good luck with it!

Yep, Phil is correct, most of the brands I saw recommend two coats, so I got two gallons (they are actually .9 gallon and one wont quite do it twice.)

I am hoping this will eliminate the black streaks down the sides after a few rains. Haven't had it on yet, but its warming up.....

It also recommends you have 60* and rising temp for full cure.

Dell,
The more I think about it, you may be right. I may have gotten two gallons and had some left over.
Sorry Teky, I think the balsa dust from the kit profile I'm building is clogging up my brain.

Oh Geez... Love the plane, but the dust is killing me.
I've become addicted to Albuterol inhalers since starting this thing.

It's a WrongWay RC, 50cc Sukhoi profile. Really cool plane if you're into a fuse that's 3/4" wide :-)

Here in France, my car isn't long enough to fit my 126" Carden fuselage, even with prop & spinner off (I didn't build it with a removeable rudder, never thought I'd be moving to France...). In the US it fits just fine inside my 6x12 Haulmark.

So I'm on the hunt to find a trailer here. Unfortunately, you can't drive down to your local Lowe's and buy an enclosed trailer. Most trailers for sale here are open platform (for hauling bikes or quads) or a small dump-type body (for yard waste, etc). Buying a new enclosed trailer big enough for my plane would cost upwards of US$6500.

I found this one used on le bon coin (French version of Craigslist) and got it for 500 Euros (about $650). It's 3m long (118") and about 2m wide (78"). It's also very light; can easily be pushed around by hand, and my small Peugeot won't have a problem with it.

When I moved here, I had built a shipping crate for my plane using 1/4" ply and 2x2's. I plan to bolt this crate to the trailer to haul the plane. Unfortunately, I built it to fit the plane disassembled (no motor, landing gear) and the plane doesn't quite fit when it's fully assembled - the box isn't tall enough. So I've started modifying the box to fit.

The biggest issue for me to solve is how to seal the wood against water. Not sure if just paint will hold up well. Would love to cover the whole thing with a heavy fiberglass cloth and resin and then paint, but I'm sure that would be super expensive.

Will post some pics of the finished product.

Pete

What is a good glue to use to apply the "tin bubble wrap" type insulation to the roof?

This is the insulation I'm talking about...http://www.homedepot.ca/product/refl...b-16x25/902357

use the tape intended for its application. Aluminum tape. http://www.lowes.com/pd_135512-56291...tix&facetInfo=

You dont want it attached to the roof panels... you want an air space between it for maximum performance.

Since we are talking about keeping the temperature down. Anyone know where I can get a thermometer that will store the high temperature? This way I can tell how hot it really gets in there when I am not around.

I went with this one for now. Its in the US and its only $7.51 shipped. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Digital-Indo...90098396582943
Its only March so i have a while before we get to the serious heat. I did buy a gallon of Sta-Kool coating to put on the roof as soon as we get back to warmer temps here. I guess I will have to see how my insulation job will perform.
