Just what the title says....?
Personally, I've been running through it over an over again on my sim. Finally this evening, I got the chance to fly it for real outside in the yard... (simulating a gym size box to fly it). I'm over my initial problems, now I'm finding the snaps in the Unlimited class to be the challenge. Just can't seem to get a foamy to snap the way I want it to for this kind of event...... I'm enjoying practicing though

My husband and I blew the dust off of his stick plane and walked through the Novice sequence. He just downloaded some Yak foamie for AFPD and I guess we're going to start practicing with that model until he finishes his 24" Yak Micro. I'm not sure if I'm going to use his Yak or my Animal VPP.

Well, last night, we had our local indoor night. It was an interesting experience....... This was my first time flying the unlimited sequence indoors. I felt pretty good in getting the routine 'placed' in the facility to make best use of the ceiling height. I also feel pretty good about the maneuver to maneuver sequence itself and have it memorized.
Snaps are still giving me fits though. I guess I'm expecting them to look like IMAC snaps, and as a person much more 'knowing' than me put it- there has to be a balance between a light airplane and one that will snap. I'm going to try some different things shortly to improve the snaps themselves. I also plan to continue working on some of the individual maneuvers to improve them..... This is a very cool challenge!!! OK WhirlyGirl, Matt and Flatlandman, how is ya'll's practicing going? |

Its been all sim practice for me I havent found an indoor venue yet as the old faith full indoor gym we flew here last year changed their policy and no longer allow us in there for free. It was good while it lasted. the up line snaps are still big barrels rolls but i believe that in the real world i will perform them better.

Truthfully, I'll be lucky if I can do all the maneuvers in Novice in one shot on film. Hey, is there a flight award for comic relief? ;o)
I got my V-blades yesterday for my Animal and should have it back in the air this weekend. I broke my first set of VPP props a couple of weeks ago at an indoor fun fly. I'm having a terrible time trying to practice the routine in the AFPD gym. I don't recall having this much trouble in real life...but, I'm usually not trying to fly straight lines in a real gym either. I will gladly take any tips you guys have for me!!! Jeanette

Jeanette, I'm probably not the best to be suggesting anything, but break it up into sections. I find it much easier to memorize a known in chunks. Then, I just transfer from section to section and it comes out pretty good.
I found the same thing with the gym in AFPD. Something about it is 'off', does not seem proportioned right at the floor, but does at the cieling.... |

Just practice the routine out doors in an open area but pretend like their is walls and ceilings. dont le your self fly higher than you think the ceiling is and dont let your self fly past where the walls would be in a the gym your going to fly at .
learn the sequence in 3 move sections do the first 3 or 4 then after you have them down add more till you have the first 3 and the new ones down then add some more keep adding more till you have it all.
