Default Yak

Hi Everyone from Dubai. I am thinking to get a Yak 54 40% by aviation models. first i'd like to hear your comments on For and against points and secondly the engine you find best for this aircraft. I want it only for 3D flying.

Cheers

Reza

REZA, my close friend just finished one and running the old style 3w 150 that was about 8 lbs. He mounted everything upfront and the CG came out perfect. We have about 250 flights on it already because we both fly this plane about 3 times a week. Its a great 3d plane but is also doing very well in the Imac style of flying. It will do some tricks that I have not been able to do with other planes. The wing will hold on forever at slow speed but the control surfaces still respond right away. We found that the 3w 3d prop works best and will haul the plane around great.
If I was going to build a new one and install everything here is what I would use for engine power. I would go with the 3w 157 TS CS 3w 3d prop. I have always wanted to use a 3w 212 4 cyl on this plane but have never got around to it.

Hey Reza,

It's great to have you here!!

I know nothing about this airframe so I can't help you there, however, I can move this thread to the Giant Scale Airframes and Kits forum to get you more exposure.

Welcome to the Giants!!!

Garrettt and Ken thank you so much for the useful advice. the place i am buying from recommends ZDZ 210 and he mentions that 3W 200 had a few problems. I am not familiar with ZDZ but hear they are good. I am a DA man and honestly never had problems with them. What servos do you use? and where is your CG?

yes but DA150 seems to me a bit under power. they recommend 210 ZDZ which is more reasonable. dont you agree?

cheers

I've flown Jason Reddish's plane....it's a big baby with all the time in the world to make up your mind what your next move is going to be. capable of very slow and contolled flight. I agree the 150 is not quite enough engine to enjoy this plane to the fullest.
