I downloaded FRAPS and recorded some flights but my files are too big, like 189 Meg. How do I make them smaller?

I cut all my video first in a software and export it in a sutable quality for the internet. Windows Movie Maker comes with each Windows XP and works fine. I also work with Nero Vision Express or MAGIX Video Deluxe. All this software is just fine for simple videocutting.

(Attached video is 640 x 480 Pixel, 1011 kbits/sek.)

To cool Tom. If that fence would have been any taller you would have had to have a shorter fuse . Great flying.

I'm confused. Could be kind enough to list the steps to do this with AFPD, FRAPS and/or Movie Maker? Do I need FRAPS and Movie Maker or just Movie maker? I have some files from FRAPS that are 189 meg and 250 meg. Can I compress these in MovieMaker or do I need to recapture them in Movie Maker. In Movie Maker it says that the video device has to be some hardware device, not a software program like FRAPS.

Thanks,
Joe

Hi Joe
To record and post AFPD flying you must have some recording software (FRAPS) and a video cutting software (movie maker or converting software).

Movie maker can't record a game like AFPD just in time. So you need something like FRAPS to do it. But FRAPS is generating a .avi file, which is much to large for posting. This file has maximum quality and no compression. Now you need to convert your .avi to something like .wmv or .mpeg. This is easily done be something like movie maker. Before you convert your file you can just cut off "memory eating" stuff, add some musik and so on....

If your movie is just like you want it, export it or say something like "save as moviefile". Now the software is saving as a .wmv file.
I'm not a crack in this things but I've found out, a .wmv file at about 640 x 480 pixel and 1000 kbits/sek is small enough for the internet and the quality is still good.

I hope I could help you and you could understand my English

Thanks Tom, I finally figured it out. Not the best flying I can do but I wanted to show my high alpha "scraping on the ground" knife edge. It's a fun manuever. You have to stay on the pavement or it grabs and crashes.

It's not the 2 feet of snow that should stop you. We fly on frozen lakes in the snow all the time... either plow off a runway, or install skis...

This is, however, hardcore sim time of year for me too, but it's really the 40 knots of wind keeping me indoors...
