I know what you mean Sleepy. I thought the same thing when mine came in the mail. One thing about it, it was packed with great articles this month. Did you check out the photos. There are two that look just like ones from the November Photo of the Month contest. Even our own MadMax made in one of the photos. It was just his back but the Flying Giants t-shirts show well.

I think they were taking a pretty hard rap because so much of their content did not have anything to do with 3d flight. I think that's the reason they changed the title. I enjoyed reading the mag, despite the fact that the title really didn't reflect the contents, and will continue to enjoy it regardless of the name game.

I saw that coming when they did the review of the Super Chipmunk....I love the Chipmunk, but its not a 3D plane. I think they just didnt get enough readership with supossedly being a "3D only" magazine...
I will still keep my subscriptuion though as its a really nice magazine..........

Well,
I can chime in a bit here.... I write some of the articles, and yes... the pictures are mine too. This month was the Shootout and the Masters for me. 3D Flyer was not only about 3D, which upset some 3D only guys (I understand this). When I saw the Super Chipmunk on the cover I about puked too. That is before I realized that this magazine covered 3D better than anyone else, but it was more than only 3D. Sad fact: 3D huckers = 5% of the RC population. Well, because there are so few of us 3D Huckers out there, the circulation was a bit low and something had to be done. The content didn't change, as there will still be plenty of 3D action in there, but as you mention above, there is more in the mag than just 3D. So, a name change was in order. Content won't change...just read it to find out what I am saying. It is a good magazine, and I am happy to write for them. They really support us 3D types and if you want to know a little secret....I try to squeeze in a bit of the Giants where I can..heheheh. Last edited by MetHerInBaghdad; 12-17-2006 at 01:59 AM. |

I thought I recognized the photos. My eyes have a knack for picking out photographs of a particular photographer at times. Thanks for letting us in on some of the inside information.

Well, James (Viper69) beat me to it...... We (all the writers) were notified of the change recently. For those that enjoyed the mag, I don't think that will change, as the content will remain essentially unchanged. Those that complained that the title did not match exactly the content will have nothing to complain about anymore....

The mag was good this month!
It just threw me for a loop, I am a creature of habbit... and I was looking for my 3D flyer... and when I didn't see it admist the pile of magazines I got worried... But your guys are correct after a quick read, the same articles are there, It's all good! But now I'm going to have to affectionately call the magazine "Sport RC flyer the magazine formerly known as prince."
