I would love to know about the Polyquest 4s 2150,s. But even my LHS doesn't want to bother with Hobby-Lobby, as they have killed him with sales after he stocks up at full price.

If someone has one of these please post some numbers. My quess would be it would pale in comparison to the EVO's and TP's. You get what you pay for.

Ditto! They haven't earned the name "Hobby Monopoly" for nothing! I try my best not to order anything from them...and have done a pretty good job of it!

Sorry, didn't want to start bashing HL, this is about the Yak.

Anyone see QQ's 49" Yak?? Sheesh, there are more Yaks now than anytihng, I quess that is how it was wit hEdge's and Extra's and before that Caps. But, man, theey are everywhere in every form.

I am trying to do the fixed thrott setup Freddy, with the CC45. I want to see if the resolution gets better, and I can't believe it, this airframe makes you want to fine tune it, every bit as much as a big bird.

If I could only keep the wheel pants from geting trashed. Damn, I love those spats, but alas, the deer make big , big holes in the turf.

Personally, I like the throttle resolution better on the Extreme Flight controller more, but the CC 45 does the job. I agree with making the airframe perform as well as possible. These little arf's are getting better. They are my flight simulator.

You like the Airboss more , huh? I can snare one to try, I only went with the CC b/c it was part of deal with a friend. He managed to burn his AB45 , he is/was new to E-planes.

It's funny how bad rumors spread though, the LHS ran out of cc45's and there is a stack of AB45's just sitting under glass. I'm game, I'll throw one in and try it. My AB35 in my 300e never hiccupped.

Turns out atlanta hobby has the airboss 45 amp esc's out of stock so I just emailed them and told them to ship the yak with a castle creations phoenix 45 amp esc instead.

Do you all think this is a good choice?

The CC 45 works. I just don't care for the throttle res, and the weird things CC ESC's sometime exibit.

Anyone know what covering is used and where/what brand will match? I've got a small hole on my stab ( something fell on it )?

Ultrakote will definitely work.

They may even use ultrakote but I am not sure.

Turns out that Atlanta hobby actually did have the Airboss 45amp esc in stock so my yak shipped with that.

Thanks for the build thread Freddy, it was enlightening.

Every time I read something on esc's and the power setups in these yaks in different build threads people seem to be having problems, malfunctions, and annoyances with the electronics right and left. I don’t want to have any of that, I want to be able to program and then leave the thing alone and fly 100 flights without worrying or having to change anything.

Is there any information on how to program the Airboss esc correctly so it does not cut off and power down like people are having it do. I am using it with a 4S pack.

I think I will try the 12X6 APC which is recommended but I may later try the 12 inch prop like you Freddy, but I will have to buy a wattmeter first probably.

Hey Fred, how do you have your Airboss programmed? I know that you may be running it over the specs but what would you recommend me? Should I leave the break on or off, hard or soft acceleration, what’s the proper cut off voltage for a 4 cell pack, does it automatically detect the cutoff voltage or do I have to program it in…………?

I have the Yak with a Hacker A30-14L and an X40 esc.
With a flight power 2500 3s pack and a 14 x 7 prop I am getting 424w at 38A which is giving heaps of performance for my EF yak 54 weighing in at 40oz.
However I am no expert but I am getting serious wing rock whilst trying to harrier, any of you pros got any set up ideas that might help, it is rock steady in an elevator, cg right in the middle of recommended range.
Thanks

Phil.

I have a 30% yak with several different props.

On a PT 22X10 the harrier suckes and it wing rocks like crazy. On a NX 22X8 and a PT 23X8 the harrier is tons better.

I think a prop combination coupled with the cg and an up and right thrust all effect the harrier. I would try changing props after the center of gravity.

When I was learning how to harrier I would just hold back on the elevator and get the nose up but would always have wing rock, there is more to the harrier than just bringing the nose up, you have to have some planes in limbo between a hover and a 45 degree AOA, remember to keep the nose high that helps allot.
