Well I have the AB45 esc, and the tork motor recommended with a 4S. Suppose I heard this and I was almost in tears from realizing that my current setup supposedly had no possible way or running correctly.
What prop should I use? Is the weird spot after prolonged WOT always there in every AB esc? I have a hard time believing that the recommended combo setup that Chris/EF recommends and that most people use has problems that are unable to be fixed. Is the 12X6 the best prop for my setup or should I try something else? |

It will fly ok on 12X6 but it is very difficult to hover and 3D with that prop. I found that I could fly with a 13X4 and it would not hit the weird cutoff and was a little more stable in the hover. Check out Fred Midgett's videos comparing the stock setup on 3s and 4s. Watch the 4s one all the way to the end. Most guys are pretty much in agreeance that the stock setup flys best on a 14X7 on 3s. I just decided to try a geared setup to get the right prop and still get a good flight time out of it. 3S: http://higherplaneproductions.com/me...k_MaidenF3.wmv 4S: http://higherplaneproductions.com/me...k_4sSunset.wmv I am a believer in extremeflight and Chris. The vids for this Yak on the EF site and the SEEFF one on the net somewhere are done on 3s setup. I think that because the 3S setup is very hard on batteries they took the safe route by recommending 4s. They list the flying weight on the website as 38-40oz. The stock 4s setup will come in closer to 44. |

What props was Fred using in each video?
I hope you or Fred don’t take it personal but because of the way he flew I really cant tell which setup fly's better. I believe you that you need a larger diameter prop to be more stable in 3d but that guy couldn’t hold a torque role to save his life, every time the planes belly faced him he would loose it. He made hovering and basically just flying around look soooo hard I cringed watching. Other than that he just did violent snaps and some harriering so I have no idea which setup fly's better from the videos. I think I am just going to get a 12X6 and a 13X4 to run with my 4S and see how it fly's. If I have trouble with the esc or the plane fly's bad then I will spend months saving up to change the power system, I hope I don’t have to though. It looked like it flew great and was stable in a harrier but I couldn’t not tell if the guy sucked on the corrections or if the plane was just a bad flyer. I really need to hurry up and fly it though before I post again. |

In the 3s vid he was using a 14X7 in the 4s vid he was using a 12X6. I thought these vids were good at demonstrating my point. He had a much easier time with the 3s setup than he did with the 4. You will be happy with this plane. It is the best thing going. Its great on 4s but better on 3s. All my opinion so take to for what you want.

Now that I watch them again he did have an easier time on the 3S and the plane looked a little more unstable on the 4S. I get your point and I hope it mine turns out to be a great flying plane either way.

Ok, now you have piqued my interest on the 3S issue.
I have not watched the vids in months. post links on the 3S and the 4s here in the thread so we can compare side by side. I have only flown the 4s and love it, but yes, I would love to try different setups just for giggles. But, first I want to watch you guys are watching. Going out right now to burn 2 4s packs on Christmas morning. |

If your going to practice IMAC stuff, I'd go for the 4S set up. You can still 3D, but the 16.8V gives you the vertical authority to perform the sequence manuevers. If your just going to just kick it around with lower 3D slow flying stuff, try the 3S set up. It will fly lighter.

I am putting together one of the Extreme Flight E Extra 300 and ran into a little bit of a delema that I hope someone here can shed some light on.
I am assembling the tail and it says that after glueing the elevator halves together to slip the assembly through the stab slot then insert the stab........ Yeah Right! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Anyone else on here built one of these and can shed some light on the subject.
