Using the Snap function on the radio will probably get you a 0 on the maneuver. There would be no departure from level flight before the snap.

it wont give you an automatic 0, you pitch as you rotate. very common. most people dont use it, for comfort. ive seen several people use it, and they get scored. its not used in the upper classes because of all the directional figures. but you can get away with it in the lower classes.

Might want to double check the rules criteria.... while most people add pitch first to show the judges ... it is not a criteria... ie: you do not need to show pitch first....

I always thought that you were not allowed to used and aided device to help fly the plane IE snap switches and gyro's ect. I have not heard this topic brought up in a long time so I'm not sure. Ill see if I can dig it up.

There is no criteria to see pitch first, but you must show pitch in the correct direction. For example if its a positive snap from horizontal upright flight the nose must pitch upwards in a vertical plane. technicly speaking if you have started rolling already before pitching then the nose may not be truely pitching in the correct direction. As the rules state "The judge must see two things to determine that a snap roll has oc-
curred. The nose must depart the flight path in the correct direction
and autorotation must be initiated. If the judge does not observe both
events, the figure must be given a zero (0).

Thats what I was eluding too.... while you do not "need" to show pitch first... most people do, just to make sure the judges see the correct motion....

If the judge observes roll before pitch he should award the pilot a deduction of .5point ( half point) deduction per 5 degrees of roll - until he observes the pitch. ( this is the 1 per 10 rule - remember, we score on half points per 5 degrees).
