the guys name is Kevin Dietrich
this is from the site you can find it at www.dietrichaircraft.com "As the founder, I have been in the model industry for many years. Many of you will remember me as a designer and builder for the likes of Quique Somenzini, Chip Hyde and Bill Hemple. I discovered the Edge 540 and it has become an icon for the model industry. The EDGE 540 has won many IMAC competitions and is a pure pleasure to fly. It is our goal at Dietrich Aircraft to bring my many years of experience to an R/C company that really cares about their customers and to provide excellent customer service." Best regards, Kevin Dietrich President |

I am sick of reading these threads where someone chimes in to try and bad mouth a company they have no experience with. Maybe instead of trying to ruin a company before they start you should keep your comments to yourself. Kevin is an awesome guy. His airplanes were on display at the Tucson Shootout and they look great. I have no doubts that they will fly very well. Best of luck to you Kevin. And sorry you have to put up with people that just have bad attitudes.

I have spoke with Kevin a few times and you have to remember that these were just prototypes. Usually a Proto will take anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months of design work and construction. Then you have to have the plane shipped to the U.S. and test it. Since its still in proto stage they are usually more hand built because Jigs are not setup yet. From my experience, I have found almost all the planes are usually lighter by about a pound in this size from the proto to production stage. Everything really cleans up once they get the laser cutter burning right, speeds right, and wood selection up to par. The net is really nice in some ways such as showing products off. But it sure can hurt a new company trying to break ground when someone is badmouthing a plane before it even hits the public. Kevin is excited to intoduce his new product and always did good when he was with AW. Slack up on the bashing and let him come out with a fair product. How is he to sell a plane if the customer cant see it first? I guess he has to have a few pilots show off the plane right?? But then that might be a biased opinion right??? Oh man what do we do now???? Garrett Morrison Last edited by JeeUm; 02-08-2007 at 09:47 PM. |

I guess my biggest beef is that he want's a deposit to hold a preorder for an unproven plane to get a "special price". Why not just let people put their name down and call them when the planes arrive and see if they are still interested? Asking money for a plane that doesn't even have a production prototype flying seems kinda, well, not right.

The reason Kevin is asking for people for a deposit if they are interested is to see how many people are interested. He has to have an idea of the demand he will have for the product. Let people make their own decisions on whether or not they want to give Kevin a deposit. He is giving people an incentive to purchase his product by offering a special rate. I know you have your concerns but please don't try to hurt peoples opinions or sway their opinions away from something you don't know about.

How bad can it really be Bodywerks? I have ordered one and will give an honest opinion on how it fly's... Looks like the one at the shootout was an able flyer
