Stand up and be counted

forget the trainer--If he can huck around with the sim he'll be fine with the real thing, AS LONG AS he starts out with a trainer chord for the first couple of flights, AND he can do very well on the sim. I wouldn't, however, get a 50CC as it feels like a big plane the first time one flies it. get some sort of 3d or sport glow plane. but please, not a trainer--if he's good at the sim the trainer won't last more than a week.

I couldn't agree more. I would actually start out with an electric 3D plane. They are a blast and aren't very expensive to set up. You would also be able to fly it at a soccer/football field next to your house to practice.
My first plane was a Yak.

Well I am kinda biased I have three d air planes / cap x cristen eagle bla bla bla. but I hve recently aquired the great planes super super sporster, It is a tail drager but has great manners on the ground very high stall limits easy to fly and lands like the most docile trainer that I have ever flown, very relaxing and leaves a big grin on my face every time i fly it. I am using a old 120 fz ys motor but I am sure you could find a cheaper engine.. I installed inexpensive tower high speed high tourqe servos and they fperform excellent in this aircraft, Also I am getting a lil older and visibilty on this air plane is great presents very well and woud be a great confidence builder for a new pilot I am fresh form the sims myself. great way to break into tali draggers and a semi trainer intermeiate plane. \\ arfwrecker

sim flying is no substitue for the real thing........and takeoff/landings are alot harder than folks think.
I think a nice .40-.60 size plane that you can tone down the controls on and has no bad stall characteristics would be perfect.

Why don't you take your father out to a field for trainer nights and get him soloed in the meantime so he knows what hes getting into. instead of just going straight to a new plane?

Yay I love mine I have a ys and it is a great flying plane closest to a trainer you will find in a low wing tail draggin machine. Probably the best flying planeyou can get easy to assemble and great out of the box. I have mine set on the kit balance point right now but will probably move it back a little to make it a lil more fun in aerobatics but for trainging it is really great
![]() arf ps would love to know how that 26 works, |
