Just bought a Blade 400. So far so good, tail needs a little work but not too bad.

I fly both planes and heli's, a 102" Yak and a few Align 600e heli's. I fly the heli to keep the left hand in the game, after 35 years of planes my left hand had become brain dead so with a Tx tray and the heli my left hand is back in the game and my rudder and throttle control skills for the airplane are much better. The left hand is a must in the heli world. I sure wish the Radio manufacturers would get back into single stick. I flew single stick for years in the 70's, they are the ultimate for radio control. I would pay a premium to get one. If you had the opportunity to spend some time getting used to a single stick you would not go back to the 2 stick. The single stick connects you to the plane and for IMAC it would be the perfect connector to the plane.

Heli's definitely help with the left stick. I saw Curtis' 9303 that he converted to single stick.
The last time I had my raptor out my friend told me he was officially grounding it until I change the motor Bearings. We looked and I have 61 hrs. on it and still on the same bearings(O.S. Hyper 50). I hope the next set lasts that long. I think I've got my money's worth out of it. I have the Kasama setup for 12.5+/- , Radix Blades, 8.7 Gears, Kasama Fan, MP 2, 1950 h.s., and always ran Cool Power 15%MV. I pulled out my 600np last night and started doing some work on it. I traded my old 68" Extreme Flight yak for the 600, tore it down about 6 months ago to do some upgrades, and it has been sitting on the shelf since then. I still had my old trusty raptor 50 to fly so it wasn't at the top of the list. It's crazy because i've got 7 Heli's and only fly one. Now that I Just finished my 110" Yak it is time to get the T-Rex going. Here's what it's going to have. T-rex 600N Pro OS Hyper 50 Hatori Bobby Watts TST V-Blades Curtis Super Stubs w/440mm Flybar Radix Tail Blades 3- Futaba 9452's Swash w/Align servo Wheels 1- Futaba 9252 Throttle Futaba 611 Gyro Rev Max Arizona Regulator Flight Power 2s Lipo G-Force V2 High Efficiency Fan K&B Orange 3D Dampeners I'm looking forward to flying the 600. The two main things I don't like about the Raptor 50 are the Collective doesn't feel crisp and in a fast dive it will pitch suddenly. I pretty much narrowed the mushy collective down to the Plastic pitch arm flexing. The CCPM on the T-Rex should eliminate that and the under slung fly bar should eliminate the pitching. |

My R50 pitched too until I installed this:
http://www.quickuk.eu/products/48/ra...washplate.html Rock solid in FF Flight. I imagine by installing some of their other metal stuff would clean up the collective also. |

Could you feel the play in your swashplate? It tracks straight hands off in fast foward flight, but if I put it in a tailslide or a fast auto it pitches hard.
Here's a pic of my rappy. Last edited by cjcyclesrc; 12-05-2008 at 09:11 PM. |

I had play in the metal swashplate so I installed a new plastic one I had laying around and even it had play. I could feel the play in the paddles and it was a substantial amount. After the QuickUK swash was installed all play disappeared. The bearing on it is twice the size of a stock one and it has set screws to dial out any play that should develop over time. Quality product.

Just joined here 'cause I'm building an EF 50cc Extra, but my primary RC interest is scale helis. Currently flying an R50/MD500 and a TRex 600E stretched to 60 size in a flybarless Jet Ranger. So the answer for me is BOTH!
