Default Ultra RC Zero "Attempt at detailing"

Just finished putting together a Ultra RC Zero for a friend. It's an ARF with some potential, so I thought.

It comes out real tail heavy so I mod'd it some. I used a fixed light weight tail wheel and moved the tails servo's to in the belly of the fuse.

Big Zenoah twin was used, not only for weight but to go fast.... I had to cut the cowl which was the only bummer.

Got the pilot from my daughter....and detailed her a little.

The plane is a real pain to put together. Ran into a few things that didn't quite fit right.

I broke out the sharpie and air brush. filled in all the rivet holes and tried to draw some semi scale panel lines on the wings and tail surfaces. Then cranked up the air brush and started going for a real worn oil stained look. Then sealed it all with clear.

Tried to do the sliding canopy thing but didn't work to well so it's fixed.

Wow... Not a scale fan myself, but that is some insane work! Awesome detail! How many hours did you put into the project?

I've got around 40-60 hours...
Way too many hours for an ARF...

No Wess he hasn't flown it, I just gave it back to him a week ago. He still needs mufflers, prop and spinner for it. As well as an electronic air control valve for the retracts.

I'm guessing it won't be ready to fly for another month or so...

What size engine did you put in this plane? I have been looking very hard at their website debating on buying it. They said they tested with a DA50 and 3W75, but after reading that yours came out tail heavy makes me worry a little. Hate to add dead weight to any plane but especially a war bird.

almost every warbird i've seen comes out tail heavy. you just need a big motor to offset the tail. the zenoahs are great motors for this. the warbirds ive built have never came out to the weight that are addvertised on the box.
