If they were to make a QB version of this plane, they might as well print QC on the box for "Quick Crash"

alot of people dont like nitro models and those cheap planes. but I own a few and I have to tell you the onces I own are nice. I dont know if I have just gotten lucky or what. But they fly nice and the one that I did have a wreck with lived to fly another day when It flat spun into the ground. I do see a problem though in buying a plane that size from a no name company. like a few people said we put alot of money in these planes and dontwant to see them crash. But as far as small ones go I buy more china planes. that just my two cents.

It is going to be Chinakote, not Ultracote, You will have to hinge it and install your canopy, cowling, landing gear, wheelpants yourself, any hardware that might be included will be junk, and the Aluminum tubes and gear will likely be weaker. You get what you pay for, and I already feel sorry for the poor schmuck that has bid up to $650 on that TURD!
Hey - look again, Does anyone see a canopy listed or photographed anywhere in the auction listing??

YAK-54 100cc ARF LIMITED EDITION!!!
"LIMITED EDITION" comes without the canopy!!!?

If it isn't listed - no game baby & your PAIN ( ya have to ask the stupid questions) or else your feedback may just be :"Item as described. Good Price."

atique,
As you know, I also bought the same YAk as you did from China. I have been flying it for the last couple of weeks. The plane flew very well. However, today the plane failed on a snap roll. Basicaly the wing went North and the plane went south. The plane was a total loss. Not sure what failed first. The nylon wing bolts held but the entire wood section on that side departed with the wing and the main tube broke in half. So it was either falilure of the tube first or failure of the glue/structure first. Either way, total loss. I was practicing IMAC with about 6 other fliers so plenty of witnesses. If it were a U.S. manufaturer I would have a shot at replacement.

Yup.

You kids are amazing..."A cheap Chinese knock off" of a Chinese airplane!?!?

You guys probably won't beleive this, but China isn't a country with coast-to-coast slave labor shops cranking-out copies of better-known Chinese RC model airplanes

EDIT: Delete.

Labor is expensive here (and Oz) as are engineers, so engineering and construction happen there. They have test flyers who are very capable and would shame most of us...particularly those of you who see the Chinese as living in rice swamps with e-xacto knives whittling out airplane parts.

Do I have issues with China and the US and how we trade? You bet! But pointing your finger at a product and flaming it because it's Chinese makes us sound like teenagers without a clue (which some of you may, in fact, be). Except for Comp-Arf (and their Composite neighbors) in Thailand, virtually any 3D-IMAC ARF plane you glorify was built in a modern , state of the art factory using technology "borrowed/stolen" from Europe and the US...I guess you could say this shows good judgement on their part.

You might have a well-known RC personality pimping one plane or another, and that person can claim to have "designed" it, which may be true if we use a pretty liberal interpretation of the word "design."

Aeroworks: Chinese
Extreme Flight: Chinese
QQ: Chinese
AM/TOC/SD-TBM: Chinese

Until you want to spend $2000.00+ for a US-made 100cc AW QB ARF (which might be of lower quality than you're getting now,) then buying from the Chinese is just something we need to hold our noses and do.

The upside (if there is one) is that we, the consumers (and so, the importers like AW, QQ, etc.), are demanding higher and higher quality in our planes, so the manufacuters are responding.

EDIT: Garret corrected me on some of the facts. Most of this paragraph deleted.

...but the instruction manual they sent me is the same as the SD manual I downloaded from TBM...I mean exactly the same pics, words, typos, etc...just a different cover sheet.

EDIT: Deleted.

Happy New Year

The planes we see in our "interest group" (3D, IMAC) are engineered and built in China in only a very few modern, well-equipped factories. For example...does anyone think that Rocco at Aeroworks, or QQ actually OWNS a model airplane factory?

Labor is expensive here (and Oz) as are engineers, so engineering and construction happen there. They have test flyers who are very capable and would shame most of us...particularly those of you who see the Chinese as living in rice swamps with e-xacto knives whittling out airplane parts.

The plane in the e-bay ads is an SD ARF. It comes with a canopy (duh) and is built in the same factory as the SD and TOC (or whatever they will call themselves next) models as well as others. Same lasercutting, CNC machines, same wood, same glue, etc. The covering on this plane is said to be ultracote. If you actually ask the e-bay sellers for some info, they will not admit that it's an SD, (obviously they have licensing agreements which prevent them from saying so,) but the instruction manual they sent me is the same as the SD manual I downloaded from TBM...I mean exactly the same pics, words, typos, etc...just a different cover sheet.

Funny, Aeroworks had a pretty "iffy" rep not that long ago, Extreme Flight 50cc Yak had structural issues as I recall, and QQ's Gen1 100cc Yak had wing problems, HOWEVER: I've never heard of any structural issues with the TOC-SD planes...AND THAT'S WHAT THE E-BAY GUYS ARE SELLING!

Some of you guys are amazing.

Happy New Year
I agree everything with this guy..... even about the teenager thingy...coz im 13!

I do know that plane on ebay is not a SD-Model ( toc1 / aviation model )

I work closely with the SD-Model factory in china and have gotten all the information of where their products are sold and every model they are producing and selling.
